Dear Maintainer,

The Mono package in Debian Sid and Ubuntu 22.04 is Mono 6.8. The latest Mono is
6.12 which came out in 2020.

The software I use depends on Mono 6.12. In Ubuntu 20.04 I had to use a third-
party repository. With Ubuntu 22.04 this really shouldn't be a problem, Mono
6.12 came out ages ago and it's very stable, it belongs in the stable LTS
release. Ubuntu won't update their Mono package until Debian does, because
Ubuntu uses the same Mono version as Debian.

The current work-around is to use a third-party repository to install Mono
6.12, but it should really be included by default in Debian Sid and in the next
stable release of Debian.

Control: severity -1 serious

It is obvious that the mono ecosystem in Debian is in a bad state.
I do not think that it qualifies to be released with trixie when
the Debian Mono Group does not even bother to update the core package.
It is still the same upstream version as the one released with bullseye.

So I am raising the severity of this bug.
