Does smbclient work by itself for you?

An interesting find. I quickly browsed there, but don't immediately see a
solution in there. I'll take a closer look.

Ironically, the smbclient I built locally from the current samba package
does not work for me at all: it says

protocol negotiation failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_NETWORK_RESPONSE

after asking me for a password - when I try to connect to a share or
get a list of shares. So far I don't know what it is.. :)

This appears to be the fix: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/merge_requests/138
(which is in gnome-vfs).

But does smbclient work for you?

Thanks,

This appears to be this issue: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/611
and this fix: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/merge_requests/138

I'm reassigning this to gvfs. Hopefully I doing it right :)

Thank you for the bugreport!

I don't think that's necessarily it, unless all the people seeing this
have a misconfigured Kerberos setup (which seems unlikely).

I tried upgrading gvfs to version 1.50.1 (which includes !138) and I cannot
connect successfully to a Samba share that allows anonymous access, logging
in as ANONYMOUS.

Workaround: I *can* connect successfully to a share that allows guest
access with an arbitrary username and a non-empty password (I used
"aaa", which is not my password on the server). This seems consistent
with upstream bug 619, which does not yet have a known solution.

Sure, there was nothing done in there about this issue.
Or else I'd mark it as fixed or at least asked you guys
to try it out :)

Thanks!

Hi!

I uploaded 4.16.1 yesterday to unstable. That one, among other things, includes this:
https://gitlab.com/samba-team/samba/-/commit/34771e1931587807d0395c7ac7f4be18654997f4
which, according to the archlinux bugreport, fixes a (similar?) issue.

Can you please verify if 4.16.1-3 works?

Thank you!
