Package: gnome-online-accounts
Version: 3.46.0-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: sazam...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?

Previously working google account ( While bookworm was in test phase )
stop working. The files access disappeared from nautilus and calendar data
stopped working ( 2 weeks ago ).

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?

Delete the account from gnome-control-center and I have tried to re
setting the account again.

* What was the outcome of this action?

First window (account name) works fine, then it freezes after clicking
Next button. I get a gray freezed window, only the gtk borders. Not able to
configure the account again.

* What outcome did you expect instead?

Being able to re setting the account and restore files access and
calendar information. Nextcloud and MS accounts seems to not being affected by
this issue btw.

I'm using nvidia-driver.

Hi,

looks like this update  WebKitGTK 2.38 -> 2.40  left the account unusable and then made it impossible to configure it again.

Regards.

Can you try setting WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 in the
environment? Does it solve the problem?

Yes. This only has a temporary effect and it will last until you close
the GNOME control center.

Hello, I just uploaded WebKitGTK 2.42.1-2 to unstable.

Could you give it a try and tell me if it works fine without having to
use any environment variable or any other workaround?

Thanks!

Hi Alberto,

Waiting until the package version it is upgradeed on the backports repo has sense ?
Upgrading from stable warn me that i will need to update 27 other packages.

Thanks for the message and help.
Regards.

Hi,

if you're using stable then it's better that you don't install
WebKitGTK from unstable, I'll tell you when a backport is available.

Thanks,

One question, do you have the libnvidia-egl-gbm1 package installed,
and if not can you install it?

If it's easy to test and not too much hassle, can you try removing
that package and see if the problem happens again?

No need to do it if it's too complicated!

Hi ,

no problem.

using 2.42.1-1~bpo12+1 package and removing libnvidia-egl-gbm1 I can confirm that the process still works.

Please let me know if I need to re install or not the libnvidia-egl-gbm1 package.

Will the solution also come through into current stable Debian 12?

Thank you maintainer for resolving the issue. Connecting a Google
online account now works on Debian 12 stable.
