Package: tracker-miner-fs
Version: 2.3.5-2
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer,

I'm getting the following lines in my log:

tracker-miner-f[1783345]: Unable to get XDG user directory path for special directory &DOCUMENTS. Ignoring this location.
tracker-miner-f[1783345]: Unable to get XDG user directory path for special directory &MUSIC. Ignoring this location.
tracker-miner-f[1783345]: Unable to get XDG user directory path for special directory &PICTURES. Ignoring this location.
tracker-miner-f[1783345]: Unable to get XDG user directory path for special directory &VIDEOS. Ignoring this location.
tracker-miner-f[1783345]: Unable to get XDG user directory path for special directory &DOWNLOAD. Ignoring this location.

This seems to happen because the miner is started for some system user,
probably postgres. I don't think tracker miners should be started for
such users.

Kind regards,
Matijs

I've seen the same with lightdm. Prevent it from starting checking for
uid < 500 or 1000 (look it up please).

And also inside the service files (3 or older, both), there's a
reference to:
# Don't restart after tracker daemon -k (aka tracker-control -k)

there's no such tracker-control binary anywhere though.

It would even be great to document how to turn it off system wide maybe
inside README.Debian.

Thank you,

AlMa

Same messages for me here at Debian stable in yellow:

These messages occur at start, when no human user is logged in. It's
difficult to see how a nonhuman user can meaningfully have all those
special directories. A repair is needed. Raising severity because more
than one user is affected.

Gratefully,
AlMa
