Package: thunderbird
Version: 1:102.0.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

* What led up to the situation?

aptitude safe-upgrade

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?

I upgraded thunderbird Upgrade: thunderbird:amd64 (1:91.9.0-1, 1:102.0.1-1)

* What was the outcome of this action?

I have noticed that I cannot access my local nntp server.(Waiting sign was for a long time, and I decided to break)
no nntp messages were displayed.
I have no additions.
I have decided to create new profile with the same accounts (I have one imap and one nntp) configured.
On new profile everything seems to work.

* What outcome did you expect instead?

Old profile would work with thunderbbird.

please recheck with an upstream binary package (select your preferred
language).

https://download-origin.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/thunderbird/releases/102.0.1/linux-x86_64/

Extract the tarball and start the thunderbird binary from the folder the
tarball was extracted.

I expect you will see the same behavior as with the Debian package. If
so then your issue needs to get reported at the upstream bug tracker and
linked together with this report.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/home

My guess right now is that something along with the ciphers you use
isn't accepted anymore.

Will try.

But it seems that I was wrong. After using for a while new profile
started to behave the same (wrong) way as old (i.e. I cannot use NNTP) so I
believe something is broken in NNTP in Thunderbird 102.

I am pretty sure no. This nntp server has no encryption configured (it
is my small home server.)

Today's unstable update to 102.0.2-1 breaks NNTP completely for me.

Reading the upstream bug link, I tried to disable master password, then
it was somehow able to connect to one server, but never to others (I have 3 NNTP accounts in my profile).

So this is a quite major regression...

Read that in a bug upstream. Tried it and it worked for me.

Apparently fixed upstream. May we have a hint on 102.0.3 arrival.

I know it is vacation period but...
