Package: iio-sensor-proxy

Hello,
I would like to mention that i have sucesfully install iio-sensor-proxy in my Debain Jessie Installation equipped with XFCE4.12 (installed by unstable) and kernel 4.7.0.rc4 (installed by experimental), but automatic screen rotation is not working.

Although, following all the instructions given by the iio-sensor-proxy developer i can confirm that my accelerometer is correctly detected and it is functional.

Moreover, running #monitor-sensor command i can get on the termina correct info about my orientation as i turn my convertible laptop left or right or even upside down.

Am i doing something wrong, or it is just XFCE who does not suppports iio-sensor-proxy and i should switch to Gnome?

Hello George,
I am the same person (github/rickysarraf) that mentioned about the status of
GNOME + Screen Rotation.

Under Debian, to have it working, you need iio-sensor-proxy + GNOME 3.18+
I've not tried it with any other DE/WM. But as I said on github, to the best of
my knowledge, it is only GNOME that currently works with *automatic* screen
rotation. I think I tired the same under KDE but that didn't work.

The simplest for you could be to have both XFCE and GNOME installed, to verify.

PS: Once you have verified, can you please update your findings on this bug
report? Then, we can bring this bug to a terminal state accordingly.
