Package: gparted
Version: 1.2.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

a partition formatted with the exfat file system is flagged in the
partition list with an exclamation mark. Information says "Warning:
Unable to read the contents of this file system! Because of this some
operations may be unavailable. The cause might be a missing software
package. The following list of software packages is required for exfat
file system support: exfatprogs."

exfatprogs is installed.

In an strace, I can see an execve for tune.exfat -l /dev/sdg1 which
returns like:
exfatprogs version : 1.1.0
label: zg2emerg

I didn't see any obvious error in strace, and unfortunately gparted does
not share what it has been trying to do to determine that it cannot read
the file system.

Greetings
Marc

This issue was fixed upstream in GParted 1.3.0 (and later) released
03-May-2021.
https://gparted.org/news.php?item=238
"Improve exFAT support such as read FS usage and set UUID"

Thanks,

Hi,

please revisit this bug report solution. You claim the bug was solved by
Suggesting exfatprogs, while I observed the bug on a system that
actually HAD exfatprogs installed when the bug appeared. gparted
actually called an exfat program successfully and got a sensible reply.

Frankly, I don't think that adding exfatprogs to Suggests: will help in
this situation.

Greetings
Marc
