Package: cheese
Version: 2.28.1-1
Severity: important

cheese segfaults immediately on my system (which has (2) V4L devices,
the first being a TV capture card, the second being a webcam, which
works as expected under gqcam).

Here is the output:

$ cheese

(cheese:12434): GStreamer-WARNING **: pad source:src returned caps which are not a real subset of its template caps
libv4l2: error converting / decoding frame data: v4l-convert: error destination buffer too small (0 < 1036800)

Segmentation fault

An old Dell Dimension 4600 and a Logitech M/N: V-U0006,
P/N: 860-000177, PID: LZ944BN USB camera here.

A release or two back, cheese worked. =8~)

Now, without the camera plugged, cheese starts and appears OK. If the
preferences window is open, it shows "UVC Camera (046d:0807)". No
image appears. =8~/

With the camera plugged, cheese displays the window for no more than a
few ms. A good old seg fault results. =8~/

root@joule:~# cheese
Xlib: sequence lost (0x100a9 > 0xab) in reply type 0x0!
Segmentation fault

I can try to respond to any request for more specific information.

Thx, ... P.

The machine faulting here is also 32 bits. =8~/ Do 32 bit systems
manifest a problem not occurring in 64 bit systems?

Is a 32 bit machine available to a maintainer? If not, almost any
electronics recycling depot should be able to provide one at no
charge. Can a third person test, please?
