Dear Maintainer,

After updating to firmware-amd-graphics 20230625-1 on my trixie system
this morning, I found amdgpu unable to use modesetting, instead
filling the journal with messages like "[drm:dc_dmub_srv_cmd_run_list
[amdgpu]] *ERROR* Error queueing DMUB command: status=2"

The GPU is 0e:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices,
Inc. [AMD/ATI] Raphael [1002:164e] (rev c3).

I found this commit from the kernel.org firmware repository:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?id=d3f66064cf43bd7338a79174bd0ff60c4ecbdf6d

Manually placing this reverted dcn_3_1_5_dmcub.bin in
/lib/firmware/amdgpu fixed my display.

Please apply this fix, or package a newer linux-firmware that includes
the change.

Thanks for your work!

sney

Followup-For: Bug #1057656

Dear Maintainer,

the current status of AMD GPU firmware in SID renders my system completely unusable.

Issues started with upgdate to kernel 6.5.0-5 but going back to 6.5.0-4 was usable.
After firmware update going back to 6.5.0-4 failed, too.

None of the following kernel updates fixed the issue.

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/2921 seems related, indicating missing patches in 6.6 firmware.
Manually obtained (amdgpu) firmware from
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/snapshot/linux-firmware-20231211.tar.gz
updated initramfs and rebooted - issue appears to be fixed.

Please package the latest upstream linux-firmware version.

Thanks for the effort.

Cheers.
Chris.
