Package: libreoffice
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

* What led up to the situation? Installing the package libreoffice-gtk3.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? Uninstalling the package libreoffice-gtk3 seems to solve the
problem.
* What was the outcome of this action? Libreoffice looks really bad, but
performs well. Also installing libreoffice-qt5 the look doesn't change.
* What outcome did you expect instead?

Not libreoffice-gtk3 as you say yourself it seems to be in -gtk3 since
it goes away when removing -gtk3?

This doesn't say anything abou what the problem is. This is only in the
subject of the mail. Repeating it would make the mail actually
understandable...

For reference: "ibreoffice: Bad performance especially when dealing with
pictures"

Now the problem still is that this is pretty subjective and depending on
your hardware. And this is stable and not release-critical nor a
security bug so anything here will live as long as stable exists
(especially like this when  there is NO other information  than "slow
with -gtk3").

Can you try with some newer upstream versions? backports has 7.3.5 (and
will, though maybe only with 7.4.1, didn't decide yet) get 7.4 soonish...

And:

> Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-16-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU threads)

Dual-core CPU? Maybe time to get some new hardware?

Oh, and this actually is completely expected. It only gets c hoosen per
default if your desktop is KDE (well, kf5 which bases on it). As gtk3
gets choosen for you per default that isn't the case. You can set it though:

cf. e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/LibreOffice#Theme

I'm using LxQt and I manually installed libreoffice-gtk3 and it was automatically enabled, and I couldn't find any way to enable libreoffice-qt5.

By using backports everything seems to work fine also with libreoffice-gtk3, but with it installed the Skia rendering backend isn't available in the options. Also I still not be able to use libreoffice-qt5 (which now isn't a big deal since the gtk3 doesn't blow up my PC).
Thank you for helping!

Regards,
Matteo.
