If your computer is freezing on boot, you most likely have one of two
problems. One, you have an extension conflict. This can be determined with
the above suggestion. If your system boots with extensions off, you know you
need to locate which extension is the culprit. However, if it fails to boot,
you most likely have a file error or corrupt driver on your hard disk.
Norton Disk Doctor is your best bet. However, Apple provides a "First Aid"
utility in the same folder noted below which might also do the trick.
On your system CD (Setup CD) there will be a folder named "Utilities" or
"Apple Utilities." You will have the HD Setup utility in there.
