We're running appletalk on a RedHat 6.2 box, and I'm getting a
strange permissions error. We have set up a "public" file section
for everyone to access (Macintosh and Windows users), and a
private section for each staff member.
When I try to copy a folder to either the public or the private folder, it
gives the following error:
The item "<filename here>" cannot be written because you do not
have enough access privileges. Do you want to continue?
When I try copying different folders, it rejects based on different
files--sometimes a .doc, sometimes a .gif--so there doesn't seem
to be anything with file format. I have checked the files on the Mac,
and they are not locked. I can't see any pattern in the files it rejects.
I have checked the permissions on the directory, and they seem
fine (775, my owner and group for my directory). Originally, we had
the group sticky bitted, but I changed that for troubleshooting, and
the error persisted.
In AppleVolumes.default, I have:
/usr/files/erik Erik access=erik options=noadouble
All lines in atalkd.conf are commented out.
Any ideas on how to allow the Apple workstations to write all files
correctly?
Thanks,
Erik

Before you buy.
Do you have the right permissions on .AppleDesktop and .AppleDouble??

Yes, the permissions on those files are set at 755 for our users,
with owner and group the same as the username. All our Mac
people are having problems saving some of their files. In the past,
I think with an older version of atalk, we didn't have this problem.
Thanks,
Erik
