Missing Network Drive files

Hi,
I am running slackware 7.1 and using netatalk-1.4b2+asun2.1.3.tar to
network a Linux box to a mac. I have shared a folder from the linux box to
mac, the only problem is that because of the maximum filename length that
MacOS enforces, any file on the LInux box that has a filename that is too
long simply doesnt show up.
My question is there any way to fix this? I was thinking along the lines of
either changing the max filename length under MacOS or somehow concatenate
the filenames under linux, so that all the files can be seen.
