government requires that all Operating Systems be POSIX compliant for
use in their departments.
Linux which I like to refer to as Unix with a Little extra is a good
OS for many who are interested in a multimedia friendly UNIX. We need
to be able to share this with others in our society so that they can
gain the benefit of using a world renowned OS such as Linux.
Making Linux POSIX complaint is a good way to help all of communicate
better with the corporate world so that we can reap the rewards of the
many services from that sector of the economy. Many corporations
which use Microsoft Operating Systems need to be changed into Linux
systems so that users who are naturally Linux friendly can be helped
with their work.
There a quite a number of users out there who have seriously advanced
computer skills but are being thwarted and their abilities regressed
by not being able to use Linux in their work environment. Introducing
Linux into major industries will go a long way to liberating the many
businesses from the burden of expensive software such as Microsoft or
Apple. We have to do our part to make Linux successful in the
corporate world.
By making Linux POSIX compliant many industries will have the
incentive to incorporate Linux technologies into their systems more
than before. POSIX is a good way to go and we need to make that
happen.
The probable success of such an endeavour would be astronomical.
Linux already is the favourite among many college students and will be
so for many employees if the POSIX standard is implemented.
