Subject: CAHK Supporting Event - 'One Laptop per Child' Project in
Hong Kong
Dear Members & Friends
Your support are sought on OLPC project!
One Laptop per Child (OLPC), The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), and Communications Association of Hong Kong (CAHK) will organize the 'One Laptop per Child' Project.
The Project intends to give children from Primary 1 to 6 in Hong Kong who are from low-income families/ from families without accessibility to the use computer/Internet and who are also attending the After School Care Program (ASCP) at HKFYG's Youth S.P.O.Ts (youth centers), access and usage of the OLPC laptops for learning. They will be allowed to borrow the laptop and take it home for self-learning, while also receiving trainings by the Association on how to use the technology throughout the program.
We strongly believe that this meaningful Project could help school-aged children, and those from disadvantaged families in particular, to engage and learn effectively with their own personal laptop, networked to the world, which is beneficial to their personal growth and sustainable development in this competitive century.
The project needs your support on :
1. Fund Sponsorship to equip computers which cost USD 210 * per unit, you can choose to sponsor any number of units. [* the price was advised by Mr. Anthony Wong, Special Advisor of Innovation andTechnology Commission (ITC)]
2. You can also join the volunteers group for providing regular computer skills and software training to the children, as well as to the trainers at HKFYG's Youth S.P.O.Ts and parents in the local community.
Appreciate your support, please reply to CAHK by email :
in...@cahk.hk , phone : 2504 2732 or fax : 2504 2752 for your interest
on or before November 10, 2008.
