Linux on rk3126 (PLT1065G)

I can't figure it out. I've tried following steps on the linux-rockchip site and steps in the channel but I'm getting nowhere. I have a kernel.img I was able to build by modifying a rk3126_v86.dts, I believe it was called to my tablet's specifications. I flashed it using TWRP. Beyond this I don't know. The tablet now goes through a boot loop. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't flash the NAND or SD card. I know I"m g a complete n00b but I can't possibly learn if I've never done it before.
