Hello, I have received notification that the BoF (Birds-of-a-Feather
which is a discussion session) has been accepted for Linux Plumbers
Conference:

BoF: upstream drivers for open source FPGA SoC peripherals
Tuesday, August 25th, at 7:00am US PDT
https://linuxplumbersconf.org/event/7/contributions/705/

I am mailing all of you (along with linux-litex list) as I think you
would have valuable insights and opinions for this discussion.

Are any of you already registered for Linux Plumbers? And if so,
would you be interested in participating in this session?

Thank you,
Drew

When I submitted the proposal, there was a pretty good discussion
occuring on litex-linux [1] back in June as Benjamin Herrenschmidt and
Martin Peres had joined the conversation.

I see that Mateusz has submitted v10 this week of LiteX SoC controller
and LiteUART serial driver [2].

I can cancel this BoF session if the consensus here is that upsreaming
is proceeding well and synchronous discussion at Plumbers is not
needed.

Thank you,
Drew

FYI - for those not registered, a few more passes have been added so
it is possible to register:

Sure, I would appreciate any feedback on points of discussion beyond
the initial summary I wrote [1].

To be honest, I had thought the BoF was not going to be accepted
because it was already well into August. Then this week I got the
acceptance email, so I'm playing catch up :)

Plumbers had sold-out recently but a few new tickets were just added
today [1]. It seemed back in June that there was the opportunity for
productive discussion if the right people were available and
interested. It is 7am US PDT / 4pm CEST on August 25th so it may be
possible for people to attend from both North America and Europe.

thanks,
drew

Thanks for organizing this Drew!

Sorry for being unresponsive recently, I just moved to a new house, got a puppy, and I am changing job :o

Anyway, I did not drop the ball, and while I will keep on hacking on litedip as a pet / R&D project, I also think that the current path you are following is not only worth pursuing, it is also the most likely to get in! So, I'll try to help when possible!

I got a ticket for LPC earlier this week, so I'll make sure to attend the BoF!

Thanks again!

Martin

I'm interested in the above, but 7am PST is midnight here in Australia.

Anything that I will add, would most likely on the linux-litex mailing list, or FREEnode IRC #litex.

Good to see a few other familiar names interested in the above. Olof, I've used some of your earlier work from Chromebook ARM.

Wow, that is a lot going on.  Glad you will be able to join us.  I wouldn't complain if the puppy made a cameo, too. :)

Yeah, it is not a great time for Australia unfortunately.  See you on IRC! :)

I'd love to but with the "remote" conf, my timezone won't really work
out, so I'm not planning on "attending" this year conference.

Cheers,
Ben.
