It's so damn scary to look at the terminal in black and white

Let's make them 알록달록 before we start so we can have fun with it.

Apart from just 'fun', it makes the terminal 훨씬 쉽다 to read

easier to know 현재 위치

easier to read 파일의 종류

easier to  자랑하기 쉽다.

1. for linux : 터미널에서 아래와 같이 입력

vi ~/.bashrc

(.bashrc로 통일하길 추천함 as it is linux default)     or

for mac osx: 

vi ~/.bash_profile

bash / tcsh :원하는 터미널의 종류(bash or tcsh ===> script 짜는데 약간씩 명령어가 다름)

 

rc : run control의 약자

 vi : text editor VIM을 틀라는 코맨드임(안켜지면 try typing 'vim')

2. In the VIM editor

DO NOT press random keys here, as they interpret 'dd' as delete one line + all sorts of other stuff happens 

FOR LINUX 

• press 'shift + g' (capital G) : moves to the end of the file
• press 'o' : change into insert mode with newline
• type 
  export PS1="\e[0;31m[\u@\h \W]\$ \e[m"              (표시줄을 빨간색으로)
  export LS_OPTIONS='--color=auto'              (ls 명령어 입력시 컬러를 키ㅁ)
  eval `dircolors`                               (dircolors라는 명령어를 실행)
  alias ls='ls $LS_OPTIONS'                        ('ls $LS_option'을 ls라고 치면 실행되게 만듬)
• press 'esc'            ----->    option mode
• type ':wq' (colon w q)        ------>    save and quit

FOR MAC

• do the same but type
• alias ls="ls -G"

3. 다시 터미널로 돌아오면

• source ~/.bashrc  (.bashrc를 다시 읽어라는 명령)

for mac

• source ~/.bash_profile (for mac)

 

 

 

 *******~/.bashrc를 이미 아시는분께

bashrc는 각 사용자 폴더의 home에 있지만

컴퓨터 자체가 켜질때 돌아가는 bashrc파일은 /etc/에 들어있음

/etc/bashrc가 먼저 읽히고 ------> 그리고 사용자 .bashrc가 읽히는 거임

basically you don't have to have '.bashrc' in your home directory, you can just use the /etc/bashrc

but if you're using server system shared with other people, you will have to use ~/.bashrc

********mac 사용자분들께

• terminal ---> preferences가면 자동 색 설정이 있음
  
• 투명도 조절가능
