Hi there,
I'm wondering if there's an application that can log the time that an
employee start and stop working, simply using fingerprint....I'll try
to explain:
In the morning the employe has just to put the finger on the
fingerprint scanner (without doing anything else) and the program log
the time he start working.
The evening the same...the employe scan his fingerprint and the
program log the time he goes home.
Is there something like that?
If not, and assuming that I only know php, is there a way to develop
it?
Thanks,
Andrea

This could be developed easily enough, but not likely in PHP. One of
the issues with PHP or any web-based solution is the thumbprint reader
must be connected to the "server" with the current technologies and
software out there. I had begun working on a client-side reader that
would upload the thumbprint id to the server to test, but it's a lot
of reworking of code.

No, we have put this project on the back-burner for the time. I will
let you know if we re-visit it again or if I attempt to take it on as
a side project.

Dear Andrea and Sebastian, dear all,

You can use the BioWebAuth SourceForge project as start point for yours
purposes. (http://sourceforge.net/projects/biowebauth/)

BioWebAuth (Biometrics for Web Authentication) is an open source Java
framework intended to provide single sign-on web authentication based on
BioAPI-compliant biometric software or devices. It uses the JA-SIG
Central Authentication Service architecture

With this opensource project you can provide access control based on
fingerprint and other biometric traits. I am one of the developers of
this project. A version that works fine with UPEK Eikon fingerprint
sensor is already available in our server. If you are interested in
testing the system, the demo of this project is available on
https://www.webapps.gts.tsc.uvigo.es/biowebauth/

You can modify the sourcecode to build your custom application.

Best regards,

Elisardo Gonzalez
