Hello All,
It is a long time since I released a new version of Linrad.
I have made many changes since March 01 2023 when I released Linrad-05.02.
Thanks to the work by Ramiro, EA4NZ, linrad now works under NetBSD on
Raspberry Pi. Ramiro is also improving the install instructions for
FreeBSD as well as NetBSD on i86 machines.
Install instructions for Debian, Fedora and openSUSE are updated.
Instructions for Mageia Mandriva and others are very old and
most probable incorrect. I tried to install Mageia 9, but installation
fails. Mandriva installs fine, but gcc does not work. It can not
find stdio.h.
It seems these distributions are no longer very popular, maybe I
should remove everything about them.
The instructions for Debian work perfectly well with Ubuntu and probably
also other derivatives of Debian.
Linrad has support for Soft66 and Elektor. There are problems with
libftdi and on most modern systems compilation of libsoft66 fails
because the version number of libftdi is not retrieved correctly.
I think I should remove support for Soft66 and Elektor. That means
I could also remove the old libusb which often requires symbolic
links.
Is anyone using the old soft66? The less old soft66 is a rtlsdr.
How about Elektor?
One remaining problem is svgalib. I will fix that before I release
06-00 because svgalib makes it possible to use FBDEV, the front buffer
device which can be very much faster than X11 on some machines.
FBDEV runs from a terminal and gives linrad the entire screen.
Any comments?
