Hello All,

I have changed my computer and now have Xubuntu 18.04 64 bit. I recently loaded Linrad 04-15 and when trying to select First backward FFT version, my only option was 0 and was not able to select 1 for MMX. Have I done something wrong or is this what is expected?

Than you

Hello Stan,

the mmx routines are written in 32 bit assembly. I made an attempt to
add a 64 bit version, but did not complete it. I do not think mmx is
useful on 64 bit machines since they normally have the cpu power to
use the float routines.

In case you really want the mmx routines, compile the 32 bit version
of Linrad on your 64 bit system. There is no other disadvantage than
that it could be a bit difficult to install the 32 bit libraries for
some particular hardware. Linrad is essentially a 32 bit package and
it does not tage advantage of the 64 bit architecture. Array pointers
are still 32 bit.
