Can Linrad even record dual-channel in wav format? I know there is that option for recording but I have never tried it dual-channel.

Assuming it can, and you have a choice between raw and wav what would the differences be in performance or reasons to use one over the other?

Hello Rick,

The .raw format records the raw data from your sdr hardware.

The .wav format records what Linrad sends to the loudspeaker/headphones.

If you select "X+Y" you will get a stereo recording and if you select
the appropriate polarisation you will get the individual signals from the
hardware in separate ears. If you set some other polarisation, one
ear would have the appropriate linear combination of the two RF channels
and the other ear would have the orthogonal combination. That would
be what goes into the .wav file.

Under normal circumstances it is a good idea to select one output channel.
That makes the size of a .wav filer smaller by a factor of two. You might also
consider making it 8 bit. If you bring up the volume bar that should be
perfectly adequate.

.raw=record the entire data flow with all stations.
.wav=record the loudspeaker audio.

Note: Linrad can record infinite size for the .wav file. Only Linrad would
be able to play such a file because Linrad ignores the file size specified
in the wav file header. It just plays untilend of file.
