Hi everybody,
I am curious to ask if anybody has tried to use the Red Pitaya board as an SDR especially with LINRAD.
Something like this could be the basis to build a nice RTX.

At least on the paper, its performance should not be terrible.
This guy has developed an SDR usable via GNU RADIO and SDR#
also see this:

but reports are not really encouraging:

If you use Google translate, it seems that a FLEX 6500 is vastly superior, not just by measurements, but "by ear" on weak signals.

I'm wondering if it could be a limitation of the hardware (ADC and oscillator phase noise) or just an immature software implementation...

I have REDPITAYA in mind.
The project you mentioned as well.
Lacks of front end attenuator and amplifier though! But price is good enough for specifications offered.

It would be good to know if and how could be used with LINRAD.

Hello Marco,

There is an Extio dll for the Red Pitaya so you should be able
to use it in Linrad under Windows.

Thanks Leif and Dionisis,
so I should be able to use it in Linrad but nobody here has ever tried this board...

Leif, what would be needed to make it work under Linux?

Hi Marco,

Someone could write an extio library for Linux. There is
already libExtIO_AFEDRI_SDR.so supplied by Alex for Afedri.

Someone could make a library libExtIO_RED_PITAYA.so available
in Linux.

Linrad is open source, anyone interested with appropriate coding
skill could add the Red Pitaya to the set of supported radios.
(I would happily include it in the standard Linrad package.)
