IMU on the Waveshare "general driver board"

Some of you have used this board with ROS2. The board has an IMU which is already connected to the ESP32, but not over I2C. I believe.
Can we get that to work? Some stuff I’ve seen made me think that it’s hard/impossible to get the IMU on the board to work directly with microros requiring some jumping etc.
If anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it.
