Ihave been using Archicad for over 10 years & while it is great for architectural modeling it is not a render package, as much as they try and talk up the cinerender system within Archicad it is slow and is being replaced with live render systems. So packages like Enscape are a perfect companion. At present we feed our models through sketchup but this does limit the texture channels available. I assume rhino can take the extra channels but I'm not in the market for a $500 rendering software when I use the Enscape output anyway.
When you do supply an add-on for Archicad can you please ensure that your system pulls through the extra channels (displacement/normal etc) that we can setup in the cinerender area of the surface settings (see attached image). I am assuming these textures/settings are accessible for you to pull though to Enscape? If not I suppose you would need to build your own material settings options as a part of an add-on.
I am a big believer that Enscape sticks to being a straight live renderer and I do all the setup work in archicad with both objects & textures. When it comes to proxies there is definitely some merit in that but base it on an 'Enscape archicad library' that you can sell seperately. Plants/lights & maybe people but I find unless they are epic models they can easily ruin an image/environment.
I have been routing my work through sketchup for renders which is o.k. but when it comes to VR presentations with clients being above to make changes to the 3D model on the fly is something that will really help. Clients think the experience is amazing but thats just because they don't know the possibilities.
Can you please ensure transparency channels are possible out of archicad as plants are so much more realistic when using transparency. Through sketchup I have to use fully modeled plants which are less than ideal.
This give us the most flexibility within 3d max and allows for quick changes from the Archicad model to be easily imported into 3D max model. (why import the whole model again and retexturing if your just changed a partition wall). Also we take it a bit further and split the above parts into stories, ground floor, 1st floor, 2nd floor etc....
No we apply new vray materials. 3dmax / Vray materials are far better than archicad textures.. It is a little time consuming but once you have done a few jobs you can create a library of ur common materials and thus applying materials to the 3ds models becomes a lot quicker...
This basically groups all objects which has the same archicad materials as one element, therefore say in your partitions 3ds file, you can apply a painted finish across all partitions rather than selecting them individually and applying a material.
I do exactly as Pixelman does, except it's no longer necessary to download a plugin to export to sketchup. You just go into the 3d view, and click FILE, SAVE AS and select .skp from the file extension.
These are usually floor/slabs, exterior walls and openings (no means of separating these in AC that I know of, do it in sketchup via "select by material"), wall claddings, interior walls and openings, structural columns, structural beams, roof structure, roof coverings, exterior hard landscaping etc etc
I'm surprised that many don't use the din3d plugin. It works great with Archicad - Max because it gives great optimization options, and also allows you to update your Max model easily while keeping material changes etc.
Din3D was by far the best solution we'd found as it allowed you to update the model easily with no issues, including on very large and complex models. It also optimised things along the way and kept it all neat. Unfortunately he's now taken down the website and it would appear that its no longer available...
Provide us with your SketchUp or Autocad files and we will be able to use it in Building Information Modeling software as a reference file. We will trace and reconstruct your model in the virtual environment using Archicad software.
While converting we can use composites, BIM objects, place aditional anotation and labling. SketchUp model or Autocad drawings will be translated to archicad from suitable elements and the most effective archicad modeling methods will be used for their creation. No aditional ajustment of a model will be needed. No plugin or converter can offer such convertion quality as a qualified drafter.
Digitalisering av 2D-tegninger til Archicad BIM-prosjekter. Uansett hvilket format tegninger er i (for eksempel skannede hndtegninger, Illustrator- eller DWG-filer) kan innholdet omdannes til en BIM-modell.
