Forinformation about, help using and fixing issues with your webcam (web camera, web cam), and how to enable or disable your webcam, see the section that matches the operating system that is installed on your computer.

I bought this laptop for my girlfriend about a month ago. It worked fine for about a month. But now, the webcam doesn't work anymore.

The webcam is mandatory for her Zoom classes. It has to work or she may be dropped from her course.

- Webcam doesn't work on Zoom, or in Windows Cam app.

- Webcam is enabled in Windows Settings -> Privacy -> Camera, everything is set to "Enabled".

- Webcam does not show in Device Manager.

- There is no FN + key for Camera to switch on/off, or any other keyboard button for camera.

- There is no Camera killswitch on this laptop model

- HP Support page does not offer any kind of a driver for the Webcam.

- HP Support "Auto Detect" doesn't help, it says that everything is up to date.

- No diagnostics tool helps

- BIOS is up to date.

- Windows 10 64bit is up to date.

I really need this to work, is there any hope? Or should just return it to store.

EDIT:

The "HP TrueVision HD Camera" does show in the Device Manager, but only after enabling "Show hidden devices"

However. The device is listed as grayed out, and Properties reveal following status:

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

- Updating does not work (it is up to date)

- Uninstalling the driver, and restarting computer does not work, it's just completely Gone from the Device Manager. Not listed even as "Hidden device"

Problem persists.Help would be greatly appreciated.

The System Monitor usually shows Zoom or 'Web Content' on Firefox as the CPU eater when things are maxing, but again, it spikes and then returns, so I'm wondering if it's actually something to do with the webcam.

Does any one know of ways to check the webcam specifically? Logs to detect if it's the webcam that is somehow pushing cpu cycles to whatever program is accessing it? (Zoom, video chats through browsers etc.)

AMCap is a still and video capture application with advanced preview and recording features. It is a Desktop application designed for computers running Windows 7 SP1 or later. Most Video-for-Windows and DirectShow-compatible devices are supported whether they are cheap webcams or advanced video capture cards.

Webcam Diagnostics is a simple assistant whichgathers many system and webcam-related information in a single place. It makes iteasy to identify driver installation problems or USB issues: red circles will signalserious issues and yellow triangles will signal minor issues. Right-click a reported issue to access the context menu and click the Fix menu (if available) so that the program attempts to fix the issue or shows you a possible way to fix it.

Webcam Diagnostics can report USB issues like overcurrent or bandwidth shortage. Itcan also tell whether your system is correctly configured to handle a webcam (e.g. processor fast enough, recent DirectX runtime, optimal display color depth, etc.)

Motion Detection is an experimental application that saves still pictures and/or makes .avi files when anything in motion is detected in front of the selected webcam. The pictures and the frames of the movies are timestamped.

The webcam test is useful for checking the functionality and picture quality of your webcam. Most people use it to verify if their webcam is working properly before participating in video conferencing and video calls in programs like Zoom or Skype.

This free tool could be useful if you don't have such an app, or if you want to get the extra information about your webcam - the information you could see in the Camera Information box.

Fully accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians, the VDL provides quality diagnostic services for animal species, including necropsy, bacteriology, serology, histopathology, virology, parasitology, molecular diagnostics, and toxicology as well as offering analytical services.

The online webcam test is a good tool for testing the camera and finding out technical information about it. Of course, it allows you to find out whether camera works correctly, but it makes a lot of tests, and because of this it is a bit slow.

For those who just need to know if the camera is functional, I have developed a simple webcam checker. It is fast, simple, and free. This checker allows you to check webcam online to see if is working properly. This test provides only a few details about your camera (more exactly, the camera name and default resolution).

I always experience an error while installing the v1.0 of the webcam utility. After the "Preparing Installation" phase, it always give me the error message "EOS Webcam utility setup ended prematurely because of an error." Does someone also experience this? The beta version works just fine but this new one does not. Is there a fix to this? I tried restarting and turning off my antivirus and running it as adminstrator to no avail.

then I find an icon for DPP on my desktop and a list of canon utilities in my list of apps So I click on dpp and it starts to open and then gives up reporting that 'an error occured' but that's all it tells me.

Installation would start, prompt me for language, etc, then bring up UAC. I told it YES, and then a small box popped up and disappeared before I could read it, and that was the end - nothing was installed.

I'm not aware of a tool Canon makes to monitor the PC's processes and find what the hangup might be, I would guess anything preventing installation of the EOS Webcam Utility would likely block such software the same way. One thing I have found with Windows 10 is that it seems to be less flexible with how it treats setup files in the Downloads folder. You might have luck installing the program by moving the downloaded folder from the Downloads folder onto your desktop and running the installation from there. Also, you may not need to do this but since its one extra click I would recommend selecting "Run as Administrator" as you did before.

Yep, but the point is such software would know when, at what point, it had been blocked and could report that - and then we'd know what was happening to our installs. That's the whole point of such software.

A: The beta version was only available in the USA. However the official version will be widely distributed in regions outside the USA. Please check the website of each country or region to see if it is distributed in your area, or contact your local service location.

MS did that to me and killed everything. I had to do a new install. First they updated, everything went wrong, it wouldn't boot, and it wouldn't rollback so I had to do a new install and that, of course, is the current 2004.

Still trying to put things together on this new install. I find win10 2004 disabled lan file/printer sharing by default, have to go to services and enable the appropriate function and then your lan works. but the printer bit still doesn't work.
