  • Group: Toronto Networking Meetings Group
  • Subject: FREE Lecture Seminar on January 25 2010 at 6:30 PM.

Dear Members:

This is Reza - founder and facilitator of Linkedin Toronto Networking meetings group. I would certainly appreciate if all those who attended last meeting, would provide their kind feedback on:

We have another great event and this is a short notice of the event for January the 25th, on Monday at 6:30 PM. Please RSVP at

We not only want you to benefit from real networking events, but also from complimentary lectures & seminars. We've had the wonderful privilege of having Curt Wu as our speaker at the last event and he has generously agreed to provide a more in depth lecture on investing, upon my request.

Curt Wu is an enthusiastic gentlemen, anxious to share knowledge and an investment advisor from TD. He graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Science and an MBA - both of which he earned from York University. He is a social and approachable person always ready to answer your questions. His public profile is available at:

The issue of investment and finances is important to us all and not all the time we have the time or patience to explore the importance of investing. More important is how to navigate through the volatile markets. Usually our presentations from speakers are no more than 10-15 minutes long. However, I think the topic of investment and finances deserves greater importance as it touches us all in one form or another.

Because of unexpected construction noise from the contractors working at the North York Civic Centre - the city has generously provided us the lecture hall again (the Council Chambers) with full access to presentation equipment such as projectors and microphones to make a good event. Curt Wu will be providing a lecture and investment tips for 30 minutes, followed by a 30-60 minute Question Answer period.

We have enough seating for about 250+ people. I encourage you to invite your friends and colleagues to attend this event. This is a short seminar type lecture that is being sponsored and coordinated by Linkedin Toronto Networking group. Depending on time availability, we may have time to socialize after the presentation. I do highly encourage you to forward this email to others you wish to invite. It is important attendees RSVP - as it allows us to keep things organized.

Curt will be providing a lecture on: Successfully Navigating Volatile Markets

Topics he will cover would be, but not limited to the following:

* Cause of the meltdown

* Cause of the rally since March 9
    - Liquidity
    - US dollar carry trade

* Cause of worries for the short term
    - De-leveraging / Lack of credit
    - Deflation

* Cause of worries for the long term
    - Inflation
    - US Fiscal and Monetary policies

* Cause of optimism for the long term
    -     Canada via Asia

* Bull-Bear Market Cycles
* Short Term versus Long Term Investing
* Economic leading indicators
* Biggest myths in the industry

These are important items to understand when investing in a market. Please invite your friends and forward this email to your colleagues and friends residing in Toronto. Free investment advise without any strings attached is hard to come by these days - and often you need an appointment from your bank to speak with an investor directly. At the end of the presentation, Curt Wu will be addressing a QA session which is not to be missed.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Best wishes,
Reza.
