Hi all,

As you probably have noticed, the traffic on this mailing list is not specially overwhelming (I'm sure most of us are actually happy about that). Please don't hesitate, as Tom already did, to start discussions, send pointers, introduce yourself on the list, etc.

To get things going, I was thinking that I could use this list to collect useful resources. More precisely, I was thinking to add a "publications/references" page on linkeduniversities.org, where we could have useful papers, reports and articles generally for people who would want to know more about the way to apply linked data in a university environment.

Since I'm a bit lazy (and only know about my own work ;-) I would like to ask you to send pointers to the list about publications and references you think would be worth being known by others (and of course, there is no problem with these publications being your own).

Here are think I have been involved in which I think could be useful for others:

Zablith, F., d'Aquin, M., Brown, S. and Green-Hughes, L. (2011) Consuming Linked Data within a Large Educational Organization, Second International Workshop on Consuming Linked Data (COLD) at International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC), Bonn, Germany

d'Aquin, M. (2012) Putting Linked Data to Use in a Large Higher-Education Organisation, Workshop on Interacting with Linked Data, co-located with the Extended Semantic Web Conference, ESWC 2012.

I also know about this report from Stanford university which might be interesting to others: http://lib.stanford.edu/files/Stanford_Linked_Data_Workshop_Report_FINAL.pdf

I now there are a lot of others: what are the ones you use/like/recommend?

Thanks!
Mathieu.

Good idea! Here are some publications of ours relevant in the Linked Universities context, and which could be added to the LU web site as well:

http://linkedscience.org/publications/

Btw, who of you all will be at ESWC2012?

Best,
Tomi

Hi Mathieu, all,

indeed, thanks for the effort! I always had in mind adding a similar
section to http://linkededucation.org but never got around to do
it...still on my schedule though.

Regarding publications, below a few in which I was involved which might
be relevant (first one is the more complete one):

- Dietze, S., Yu, H. Q., Giordano, D., Kaldoudi, E., Dovrolis, N.,
Taibi, D., Linked Education: interlinking educational Resources and the
Web of Data, in Proceedings of the 27th ACM Symposium On Applied
Computing (SAC-2012), Special Track on Semantic Web and Applications,
Riva del Garda (Trento), Italy, 2012.

- Yu, H. Q., Dietze, S., Li, N., Pedrinaci, C., Taibi, D., Dovrolis, N.,
Stefanut, T., Kaldoudi, E., Domingue, J., A Linked Data-driven &
Service-oriented Architecture for Sharing Educational Resources, in
Proceedings of Linked Learning 2011: the 1st International Workshop on
eLearning Approaches for the Linked Data Age, CEUR-Vol 717, 2011.

We have a few more extensive journal publications currently under review
(including a comprehensive survey paper on linked data in education),
which might be highly relevant as well. I will keep you posted.

@Tomi: no ESWC for me this year unfortunately due to some appointment
conflicts.

Best,

Stefan
