The documentation states that there should be exactly one Primary Name (aat:300404670) per language.

If an artwork has Primary Names in multiple languages, how should the original title be identified ?

Hi Mathieu,

Could you describe what you mean by "original title"?

It seems like a different vocabulary entry compared to primary ... and there is an AAT for "original title": https://www.getty.edu/vow/AATFullDisplay?find=&logic=AND&note=&subjectid=300417204

Then for the primary and original title, you'd have both classifications on it (using the right AAT form of the URI, of course, http://vocab.getty.edu/aat/300nnnnnn)

Hope that helps!

Rob

In the example of The Night Watch on the Linked Art website, there are two primary names, one in Dutch and one in English. The original title is clearly the Dutch title. For a multilingual website, I would like to be able to distinguish the original title (i.e. the title given by the artist or traditionally regarded as the original title) from its translations. This would allow me to display the original title and, depending on the site's language settings, show the appropriate translation when available.
