Subject: New W3C SHACL WG
Dear Jena users,
The W3C has formed a second Data Shapes WG to extend and maintain SHACL-based Recommendations (standards).
Many (all?) of you will be aware of SHACL and Jena's implementation of SHACL validation. This new WG will enhance SHACL in line with RDF-Star developments and also push SHACL into new and interesting areas, such as formally-defined profiling (of SHACL Shape collections and other RDF resources).
You will find all information on the Working Group on the Group's home page:
https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/data-shapes, in particular the WG's Charter:
https://www.w3.org/2024/12/data-shapes.html
Please see the proposed Deliverables:
- SHACL 1.2 Core
- SHACL 1.2 SPARQL Extensions
- SHACL 1.2 User Interfaces
- SHACL 1.2 Inferencing Rules
- SHACL 1.2 Profiling
- SHACL 1.2 Compact Syntax
Some of those Deliverables are updates in like with RDF 1.2 (RDF-Star), others are extensions that have been anticipated for a while (SHACL UI, SHACL CS) and some are innovations (SHACL Inferencing Rules & Profiling).
If you are interested in participating, you may join the WG - see the Group's home page, linked to above, for joining details - and you may also watch the development of the Deliverables online without joining as much of the WG's activities will be public in GitHub & W3C meeting reports etc.
Please promote this WG to other Semantic Web communities you are members of.
Regards,
Nick & ElianaData Shapes WG Co-Chairs
