Activate Windows Server 2003 Without Internet

Allcurrent Windows products require activation with Microsoft to confirm their validity and prevent software piracy. This can be a simple and easy process for computers connected to the internet or in an office environment with access to a Key Management Server (KMS), which can handle the activation process in the background. KMS periodically reactivates Windows on machines to ensure their licenses remain legitimate.

In my case, I ran afoul of a rampant Windows activation prompt on several company-owned servers I administer because the KMS server went down and eventually the servers stopped using what they considered valid licenses. Worse, Microsoft limits the functionality of unactivated Windows machines, preventing you from performing tasks such as customizing the taskbar or applying patches.

Since these servers were due for some critical patches to be applied, I needed to move as fast as possible. I was able to quickly get Windows activated on these machines while also preparing to get a new KMS server stood up after the fact. I conducted these steps on several Windows 2012 machines, but they should also apply to Windows 10, 11 and 2016.

First you will likely need to right-click the Start menu, choose System, click Activate Windows or Change The Product Key Or Upgrade Your Version Of Windows, then click Change Product Key and apply the product key.

I was then taken to the screen shown in Figure F, which gave me eight sequences of numbers as shown. These numbers are based upon the numbers that had been displayed on my server screen under the Installation ID section. They are unique and based upon my Windows product code, so they will activate only that server.

When you install Tableau Server, you have to activate at least one product key, but we recommend that you activate all Tableau Server licenses found in the Tableau Customer Portal. Doing this activates the server, and specifies the number of license levels you can assign to users. For offline activations, you should activate the product key listed in the Offline Activation Id field in the Tableau Customer Portal. There are also times you may need to activate licenses after Tableau Server is installed, for example, if you add capacity to your server, or get a new product key. If you don't have your product key, you can get it from the TableauCustomer Account Center.

In most cases, you can activate your key directly from Tableau Server, either during installation, or later, using the Tableau Services Manager (TSM) Licenses page, but there are some circumstances that don't allow you to do this. If your computer is not connected to the internet for example, or has a firewall that restricts access outside your intranet. In these cases you need to do an offline activation.

Beginning in Tableau Server version 2023.1.0, offline activation is supported for LBLM when your server is configured to use the Authorization-to-Run (ATR) service. You can only configure Tableau Server to use the ATR service during a new install. Upgrading customers with existing server installations need to install a new instance of Tableau Server version 2023.1.0 or later and restore a backup of their existing installation to that new instance. Beginning in Tableau Server version 2023.1, the Tableau licensing system supports two underlying licensing technologies. From an administrative perspective, the only configuration difference between the two systems is the file types that are generated and consumed for offline activation. The licensing technology is determined during the initial installation of Tableau Server, and cannot be changed after install.

We refer to the legacy (and still supported) version of licensing technology as FlexNet. The latest version of the technology is referred to as Server ATR. For more information, see Activate Tableau Server Using the Authorization-To-Run (ATR) Service. The following table describes the file naming nomenclature for each technology. The table also includes the generic reference.

If you attempt to activate your product key from the TSM licenses page and see a dialog that says online activation is unavailable, you can activate the key offline. The offline activation process must be completed once for each product key.

Create an OfflineActivationRequest file you will upload to the Tableau activation website. If your product key is not pre-filled in the form, enter your key and click Create Offline File to generate an OfflineActivationRequest file on the local computer.

You will upload and submit the OfflineActivationRequest file to the Tableau activation website. This automatically generates an activation response file (OfflineActivationResponse) that you can download and copy back to the Tableau Server computer.

Note: When using ATR to activate Tableau Server, should point to the packaged OfflineActivationResponse .zip file. Do not unzip the OfflineActivationResponse file prior to running this command.

AVEVA System Platform 2023 is often installed on servers that are air-gapped. Security policies prohibit access to the internet from the process network. The AVEVA and operating system (OS) licenses need to be activated offline. This tech note details how to activate the OS license.

Next, call the number listed below. The installation ID for the server is broken into nine groups of seven numbers. The phone system will prompt you to have an app sent to your phone. The app allows you to type the installation ID numbers into the phone rather using your voice which is problematic.

Same problem. Trying to reinstall my CS6 disc and the installer doesn't recognize that I'm on the internet, so I can't verify serial number. Go to the offline verification link, and they require a REQUEST (not Response code) code plus the serial number in order to generate a Response Code. But there is NO Request code anywhere on the disc or on the labels with the serial number on the package. All the Adobe people answering questions on this on other forums clearly have never gone to the Offline page, because they keep referring people to it without even realizing that entering a Request Code is required along with the serial number in order to generate a Response Code to verify the installation. And, of course, there's no Request Code included on any of the licensed materials. Adobe sucks so bad, this is infuriating. I'll be looking elsewhere in the future.

I had been searching awhile to try to find the steps to get CS6 activated offline after I experienced repeated failures getting that done online. Most postings that I came across only had partial info on how to do that, so my attempts failed as I tried each suggestion. Finally I was able to figure out the steps to do that so I made screenshots of the steps ....there were 18 steps in all.

As I mentioned above, my post ended up very long on that site, but I was determined to include every bit of info that I could so that others would have as much info as possible to get installation and activation (offline) accomplished successfully.

PS: I forgot to mention that my comments regarding the installation and offline activation of CS6 are aimed primarily at the Mac platform. Some, or perhaps many, of my comments MIGHT also be applicable to a CS6 installation on a Windows box as well. YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary.

unfortunately, there may have been been a recent (past 2weeks) change in adobe's offline and online activation, so it's not clear how much help your past experience will be. but thank you for your contribution.

then this thread running from 1/4/23 to current ( -install-discussions/error-16-no-serial-numbers-not-registere...) involves a user who started like an average user making errors and misstatements, but who has evolved to a careful user that seems to have done everything right and still cannot activate either of two cs6 apps.

they only did that for about 1-2 years when cs2 activation servers were shut down. then they pulled those versions and serial numbers and shuttered the cs3 and cs4 activation servers without releasing cs3, cs4 versions that can be used without activation.
