Designedto conduct research, development, and acceptance testing of hypersonic airbreathing propulsion systems, the Hypersonic Tunnel Facility (HTF) is a fully self-contained facility. Its experimental infrastructure includes a shop area for fabrication of materials for facility subsystems and assembly of customer hardware. Due to the high-energy nature of the facility, it is operated remotely from a control room approximately one-quarter mile from the actual facility.
However, the hypersonic core flow varies with Mach number. The test section length can be adjusted from 10 feet to 14 feet in length. Utilization of aeroappliances around test hardware is standard practice. A single stage steam ejector is used to exhaust the facility flow and provide altitude simulation.

Starting Monday, April 25, 2011, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will begin conducting geotechnical tests at multiple locations along the planned alignment of the downtown Regional Connector project as part of the planning and engineering for the project.
The initial geotechnical work in downtown Los Angeles will include soil, noise, and vibration tests to be completed over a two-week period. The data collected will provide information on subsurface conditions to evaluate optimum excavation and construction methodologies.
Included in the geotechnical borings will be a variety of tests that establish soil conditions. Part of the testing will include Sonic Core Drilling that measures noise and vibration in relation to geotechnical conditions and existing infrasture.
The Metro Regional Connector project will provide a 1.9-mile fully-underground connection for the Metro Gold, Blue and Exposition Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines. The project is completing the Final EIS/EIR, and initiated Preliminary Engineering in January 2011. The Final EIS/EIR is expected to be adopted by the end of 2011, with the possible initiation of construction in 2014. The project will provide three new stations, serving approximately 90,000 transit passengers daily.
What you should be more upset about is how we have been developing two separate light rail systems: one that connects to the west side of Downtown (Blue and Expo) and one that connects to the east side of Downtown (Pasadena Gold and East LA Gold). You should be upset that we have not acted until now to unify our light rail network.
This project will greatly boost ridership on all of our rail lines by providing direct access for light rail riders to most of Downtown. Further, ridership will be enhanced because crosstown trips through Downtown will be greatly eased. The whole county stands to gain.
The regional connector is important it will provide a seamless link for people traveling from East- L.A. and Pasadena to Long Beach and Culver City/ Santa Monica. This is one of the vital projects that need to occur.
First off, being negative is not a good way to influence. Also, the voters approved of a tax raise for these projects and these are all projects that make sense (the connector-no transfers now for certain rides is great).
Like some others have written in response, the MTA has a nice mix of projects that will benefit the entire region. Can more be done yes, but the City, County, and State, (heck Country) is on the verge of very tough economic times. Our State needs to do smart projects that will encourage development and growth for public and private sector (all in the same time and to tell an entire region that over the last 50 or so years have been fed a solution of the car).
This is very important regionally not just for downtown. It allows for a maximum of one transfer from points east of downtown to points west via rail. So it is more than about downtown. This is the beginning of an actual network which we have needed for far too long. Rails always serve as backbone lines in all cities that have them. Buses feed them. Or they go in areas in between main rail lines. This is classic transit planning for a large city so taking backbone rail lines seriously is something we very much need now. MTA should not be cutting buses, but if they overlap with the rails then its a redundant use of resources in which said bus could be put elsewhere. Should MTA be cutting buses in areas not served by rail? Absolutely not!!! But lets not jump the gun and downplay the importance of rapid high capacity core lines which every major city with good transit has.
The San Fernando Valley is getting a busway to Chatsworth. LA County is getting better Metrolink service in general (they are even exploring routes that BYPASS LA Union Station so riders have a faster commute to other work centers).
I questioned why moving my Roon Core from a late model MacBool Pro to a sonicTransporter i5 would make a difference? After repeatedly getting the same answer from those with no skin in the game I pulled the trigger and yes the improvement was readily apparent.
I have done a very similar set of system changes over time. I used to run a Mac mini in the stereo directly to the DAC. This was good but not great. Early this year I upgraded to a microrendu and an ST i5. The MR is in the stereo and the STi5 is done with the router and the 24 port switch. The overall audio improvement of the MR in the system is really amazing. I am testing right now with an intel NUC running ROCK and the ST i5. (I just switched licenses on the core computers today and will test ASAP). I am pretty sure that the NUC/ROCK is not as good but I am A/B/A testing right now.
As I get the network better placed I have more to test and the Mac mini is in the same rack as the other gear and I am thinking I will try it again. Switching licenses back and forth is a bit of a pain.

It seems Sonic Core (formely Creamware) is about releasing a new version of the Sonic Core Platform software (formely Scope Platform). This version is the number 5 and it seems it will be compatible with OSX (finally!). So for all of us that still have one of those boards that could be great. I contact them to ask about it. They say the new software is compatible with Vista/XP/OSX and can run all the old DSP Pulsar boards.
Now the question is if we will be able to run the software/PCI boards on ours hackintoshes or not. I risk to say that we will; they are also releasing a new audio interface 'SCOPE XITE-1', that is compatible with intel-macs and I like tu assume that uses the new Sonic Core Platform software too...
I agree, but the routing/mixing/conectivity features are very good; you can integrate almost any piece of hardware/software laying around in your project. Also some of the virtual instruments/plugins sound excellent. ...Isnt Powercore, but it was much more affordable back then. I produced a lot of music with it in the past and then I swich to OSX so I had to stop using it. I dont know why they got stuck with Os9 and never developed a OSX version of the software.... Anyway, Im hopeing I can use it again; will be the perfect complement to Logic 8....
Well, the SonicCorePlatform v5 will be released together with a new audio interface (scope-xite 1), compatible with OSX (intel). Basically it is an external module that connects via ExpressCard or a PCI-e card to the computer. It is said that the new software is compatible with all the old PCI cards too, so maybe is safe to asume that we will be able to use them on our hackintoshes...
Nevertheless I contacted them and explain the 'hackintosh situation'; the guy at the technic support said that is pretty possible the card will work; but that they cannot tell for shure 'cos they cannot test it propperly. He was a bit elusive about details though.
Yes. You can try turning off all services just to see if that helps. Turn off IPS, Antivirus, Botnet, CFS, etc. Also, you can turn off DPI. This will cripple the firewall and negate most of the reasons you bought a Sonicwall instead of a limited firewall but you can just test and see if this fixes the issue.
I have to trust/hope that the Firewall is dishing out proper bandwidth across multiple connections. But how would one go about testing that? How can I be sure that the SonicWall is not bottlenecking our bandwidth by 75%!?
Iperf is a very good tool where you can blast the packets through the firewall and get the results for each connection and core. This will give you a good insight if the firewall is doing its job spreading the bandwidth. Each connection will be dedicated to one core and this is how the connections are spread evenly across the firewall. Speed Test will only use one connection so the results you get will only present the throughput of one core on the firewall.
