Question about Climate linkage Mapper run failure

Dear Dr John and Darren :

I am trying to  run  Climate linkage mapper, and  terminatede it  in an unusual way.

The version of the software I am using is:GRASS GIS 7.8； ArcGIS 10.8; Linkage Mapper 3.1.

I am running the process with this error: "ascii'codec can't decode byte 0xbe inposition 0:ordinal not in range(128).

I am not able to support GRASS today, and likely not anytime soon.

Hopefully someone else can reply.

In the meantime, here are some thoughts:

1) I'll assume you have it all running fine with the sample data and user guide tutorial.  If not, try that to make sure it is not your environment.

2) You can search the group messages for "ordinal not in range" and see some other cases.  I do not see any about Climate Linkage Mapper, but one was because the wrong number was used for a "Bounding Circles Buffer Distance." in the linkage Pathways Tool.

You could try and remove line 198 (stderr = stderr.decode()) in cc_grass_cwd.py or alternatively modify it to stderr = stderr.decode("utf-8").
