Hi all,

I am trying to run the Build Network and Map Linkages tool on ArcMap 10.8. It seems to get through steps 1 and 2 just fine, but I keep getting the following error for step 3:
"Geoprocessing error on **line 809** of lm_util.py in Linkage Mapper Version 2.0.0:
---------------------------------
ERROR 999999: Error executing function.
Failed to execute (RasterToPolyline)."

I am running from ArcCatalog, have tried storing the project directory on different drives (including a local drive), and restarted the program multiple times.

I'm not quite sure where the error is stemming from, but I have a couple thoughts:
  • I'm modeling corridors between seven protected areas in a coastal region, so some of my cores are right along the edge of the raster data, and there is a small gap in the raster (ie. NoData) for a water body that I do not want the corridor to cross. I'm wondering if this is causing issues-- would it be preferable to buffer the region and fill in gaps with very high resistance values, rather than NoData? (photo attached)
  • The size of my raster is 22620 x 16918; I am wondering if need to reduce the size?
I've attached the log file. Any help is much appreciated!

Best,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Try the beta version of our next release and see if you encounter the same issue. It can be downloaded at https://github.com/linkagescape/linkage-mapper/releases/tag/v3.0.0-beta.5

Hi Darren,

Thank you for sending! I downloaded and ran the beta version but unfortunately it's still giving me the same error.

Best,

Michelle

Hi Darren,

I discovered I there was an issue with the extent of my protected area shapefile, which must have caused the issue. I have fixed this and ran the beta version of the next release successfully!

Apologies for not discovering this before posting!

Best,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Can you send the full log file?  That may have all the clues we need.

Michelle,

Thanks for letting us know. It is unfortunate that ArcGIS errors are not more explicit.
