Hi everyone! I am Gurusha, I am new to GIS and am trying to use circuitscape for a project. Can anyone help me with the installation of Linkage mapper and Gnarly Landscape Utilities, also if there is any tutorial anyone can suggest of for using this. Thanks!!

Hi Gurusha,

Keep in mind that Linkage Mapper applies circuitscale in a limited manner: within the linkages mapped by linkage mapper toolbox.  it does this within pinchpoint mapper.  To learn this, the best place to start is with the tutorial using the sample data.  There is a tutorial for each tool in the toolbox.  Best to start with linkage pathways.  After that, you can try learning gnarly tools, or just make your resistance and cores manually.

Have fun!

John

Hi John,
Thank you so much for your advice. It is really helpful!
It would be great if you can help me with an error that I am getting while using Linkage Mapper. I followed the tutorial in the linkage pathways pdf step by step, and I am getting this error.

ERROR 000989: Python syntax error: within script tool MapLinkages_Linkage Mapper(C:\Users\gurus\Desktop\scripts\lm_master.py)
WARNING 001675: Found REMOVED tool ARC.create" within script tool MapLinkages_Linkage Mapper(C:\Users\gurus\Desktop\scripts::VALIDATE@8)

I opened the python file and tried to run it and it said

    import arcgisscripting
ImportError: No module named arcgisscripting

Even I cannot find any module named arcgisscripting. Can you please help me resolve this issue?

Thanks
Gurusha

Hi Gurusha,

I think because of some modifications in the code, you are getting that ERROR 000989. If you did modify the code, download the tool and try again. Or If you did not make any changes, please attach the log file then it is easy to spot the error.

the log file can find in /run_history/log from the project directory.

You can try the latest version of LM if you installed old one before

And you can try running import arcgisscripting in ArcGIS python console. Or python from ArcGIS, this can find in a folder like this C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.5

Regards,
Venkanna.
