The Department of Linguistics at Boston University is delighted to announce an Emerging Scholars Speaker Series this spring! The series consists of six speakers:
  • Feb. 26, 2021 (3:30pm ET / UTC-5): Megan Figueroa (U. of Arizona)
    • "Rethinking English past tense overregularizations"
  • Mar. 19, 2021 (3:30pm ET / UTC-4): Jhonnatan Rangel (INALCO Paris)
    • "Words like the wind: Documenting variation in critically endangered languages"
  • Mar. 26, 2021 (3:30pm ET / UTC-4): Nandi Sims (Ohio State U.)
    • "The effects of ethnic and social group identities on the linguistic variation of Black middle schoolers"
  • Apr. 2, 2021 (3:30pm ET / UTC-4): Gladys Camacho-Rios (UT Austin)
    • "Morphological variation in South Bolivian Quechua: A new approach to Quechuan typology"
  • Apr. 16, 2021 (3:30pm ET / UTC-4): Megan Burkhardt-Reed (U. of Memphis)
    • "Exploring the roles of voice and gesture in early communication development"
  • Apr. 30, 2021 (3:30pm ET / UTC-4): Rachel Elizabeth Weissler (U. of Michigan)
    • "How do our experiences influence perception? Exploring the intersection of sociolinguistics and cognitive processing"
