to Linguistic Landscape
Dear all,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm not sure if there are more
recent mailing lists for folks interested in LL issues, so I'm sending
here. I've been working on completing my dissertation at UC Berkeley,
looking for jobs, and hoping to continue work in linguistic landscape
into coming years.

Recently I've found a few artistic projects thought-provoking, both in
what they say about the ubiquity of signs in our environment, and in
the challenges they provoke and questions they raise about "the
object" of LL studies (I remember back to the "What is the unit of
analysis, or is there such a thing, in LL?" discussion that we had in
Siena).

Here's a project, "the Untitled Project" by Matt Siber, in which all
the words and other symbols have been removed from the cityscape:

And here's a video project in which everything BUT the words and
symbols have been rendered black, almost invisible:

Any other interesting art projects or other thought-stimulators out
there?

Best,
