Dear all,

Having just heard from Monica and Carla about what looks to be a great
workshop in Siena in January, I just wanted to send a little 'hello'
and see if you all thought this or another type of forum might be
useful for keeping in touch in the coming months. It might be nice to
send each other updates about discoveries and readings we've been
doing related to LL...?

I've just been turned on to the work of David Barton at the Lancaster
Literacy Research Centre (http://www.literacy.lancs.ac.uk/), thinking
perhaps about "Applied Linguistic Landscape" after being at the Int'l
Association for Applied Linguistics conference in Essen, Germany--
thanks, Elana!

Best regards,

Dave

Dear David, dear all,

I absolutely agree that it would be nice to share discoveries and
developments of that kind and regarding any aspect of LL through this
list - so thanks David
for the information and the initiative!

As for me - not so much news, still working on the old project in the
Baltics :-)
In addition I have prepared an article for the essentially German-
speaking
audience of the online journal "Linguistik online" as a contribution
for an
edition on "innovative" research methods - maybe that will spread news
about
LL also a bit more in the German-reading world.... - The edition
should be
available within a couple of weeks in case someone is interested.

One more question: It seems I was one of the few who didn't have the
chance
to attend this year's AILA -
could anyone please give me a current update on Siena? Which are the
exact
dates? What about deadlines for papers or registration etc.?

Thanks!

Best wishes to everybody from an increasingly autumny Latvia

Heiko
