Meeting Description:

IV. Österreichische Studierenden-Konferenz der Linguistik
4th Austrian Students' Conference of Linguistics
Innsbruck, Austria
26th - 27th November 2011

ÖSKL means Österreichische Studierenden-Konferenz der Linguistik (Austrian Students' Conference of Linguistics) and is a platform for prospective linguists and students of other disciplines related to language who want to experience their first scientific presentations in a relaxed and kind atmosphere without grading pressure. Furthermore, this kind of conference gives the possibility of getting to know other students and institutes and due to other topics of research.

The ÖSKL will take place for the fourth time in 2011. The institute for Languages and Literatures, department of Linguistics at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck is happy to be this year's host.

One of the main concerns of the ÖSKL is the aspect of socialising. The conference is a perfect occasion to get most useful contacts to other linguists in a relaxed atmosphere. Maybe you will find new friends or plan future research projects with people from abroad!

Registration opens Friday 25th November. In the evening, there will be an informal get-together for socialising and getting to know each other. The conference will take place in the building of Humanities, Innrain 52d, 4th floor in the rooms of the department of linguistics and Slavonic studies (rooms 40432 and 40406). Presentations will be held Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November.

All participants are responsible for their own accommodation. Please note that the season of winter tourism is already starting in the end of November, so an early booking will be worth it.

More information will follow. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us and we will be pleased to assist you.

Call for Papers:

This conference offers students of linguistics the possibility to present their own research as a presentation (20 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion) to other students. Dissertations, Master's and Bachelor's theses as well as presentations of projects or term papers are welcome. The presentation can be held in either English or German.

Every topic related to any linguistic area is appreciated. Like the years before, there will be the possibility to publish a paper in the online magazine 'Wiener Linguistische Gazette'.

For your application, please send an anonymous abstract in English or German to oesk...@gmail.com. Please only include your contact information and name in the e-mail, as we evaluate the applications anonymously. The application deadline is 17th October.

The organisation team is looking forward to many participants:

If anyone of you guys goes there (I unfortunately can't at that time), my sister lives in Innsbruck and is always happy to host people (if she's in town at that time, obviously ;) ) - let me know.
