Howdy,
does anyone know whether there is an explicate theory of "semantic
simples"? It seems to me, as though such entities are widely assumed
implicitly (well, that's what decomposition is about); but was there
any thought process on whether it was plausible or adequate to assume
semantic simples?
I mean, even Locke assumed "simple ideas" just because there are
"complex ideas". I'd call that stance "Semantic Atomism". If anyone
gets the idea of what I am talking about, feel free to inform me about
explicate theories on why the assumption of semantic simples is taken
to be adequate.
Cheers,
Andreas
