I don't have vmware installed, and have tried searching for the .match_kernel file to delete, but can't find it anywhere. I don't have the option of selecting a partition on disk utilities so can't do a repair disk permissions on it.
after hours of hacking at this issue my coworker and i came to a workable solution. the issue (for me at least) was that when i went to install the package it was getting blocked. you can check to see if this is the case by attempting to install, and when it says 'install failed' go to your security & privacy (in system preferences) and go to the 'general' tab and near the bottom it will say that an oracle application was blocked.
here are the steps we came up with **NOTE: if you tried downloading or installing this a few times like i did you will want to first uninstall virtualbox using the virtualbox uninstall tool which you can find in the downloaded .dmg file. you will also want to eject virtualbox from your devices (in the left panel of finder). after that go ahead and follow these instructions:
Problem is these files cannot be deleted even using sudo. So we had to reboot the system pressing cmd + r so you go into a troubleshooting system and not the normal OS environment. In there, you can open the terminal and run "csrutil disable", then reboot the system.
Back in the normal OS X I try to run vagrant and get an error again. So at the moment I had to go back again, to disable the csrutil, which is NOT RECOMMENDED, but it's as of this moment the only thing that works for me.
For those using homebrew, run 'brew install caskroom/cask/virtualbox', which will fail the first time. Then go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy>General as described above, where, at the bottom, there should be a message about the software install being blocked. Click the 'Allow' button next to this message, then go back to your terminal. Run the homebrew command again and this time it will work.
So: As I read, Sierra has a new security feature that blocks some external programs. During virtualbox installations you can check Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. You will see that Oracle (virtualbox) is being blocked. So, what I did was:
When I first installed Virtualbox (Manjaro repositories) I was crashed all the time, I discovered that it was because I needed to install the Headers, in doing so everything was correctly, so far I have not had problems with Virtualbox to this day (day 13).
Today Manjaro Linux has put a series of updates, I have installed them correctly (without errors), one of those updates was VirtualBox, at the end of updating and restarting the PC, VirtualBox full time crash and give graphic errors (as If the Headers do not work), it happens to me in several VM not only in 1, I have reinstalled to the Headers, I have reinstalled VirtualBox, I have even installed VirtualBox from another source, but the problem persists, does any help?
Last night I did the regular Manjaro updates on a couple of the machines and one of the items in the list was VirtualBox. VirtualBox has become completely unstable on both of those machines, while it continues to work fine on the machines I did not update.
If you choose to downgrade a Kernel, make sure to downgrade all pre-build Kernel modules you have installed. If you use for example Nvidia, downgrade the Nvidia modules too or if you need specific wifi modules, you have to downgrade them also. If with the last update the Nivida drive receiveed an update you will need to downgrade the complete Nvidia stack with all necessary libraries. This is usually not that easy and will often fail.
To start look in /etc/modules-load.d and check the contend of the files. They list all modules that get loaded.
Anyway, I just loaded the linux54 kernel and rebooted into it. SO FAR (crosses toes) VirtualBox has not crashed yet and its been 10 minutes with 3 Chrome tabs open. (it usually crashes in less than a minute).
Yes, eliminated both Virtualbox and Linux515-Virtualbox-Host-Modules and installed Virtualbox (Official Manjaro Repo) + Virtualbox-Host-DKMS, and then I restarted the PC, unfortunately it did not work.
I followed the steps in this link +Virtual+Box carefully and sucessfully download and installed the rpm , but during the process of starting up the vm ,it encountered an error , network unreachable, Meanwhile i use a very fast 4g internet network and i have all the pre-requisite installed prior to the setup. attached is a screenshot of the error
what of the bahmni rpm . its 4gb of download. what happens to it.does it mean i have to uninstall my virtual box. how can i update vagrant. because installation went smoothly but it refuses start the vm as the images above show.
So for the virtual box , all need to do re download a newer version and install. For vagrant when do vagrant up , it search for the latest version and any updates but it says my vagrant is up to date. Thanks
Thanks guys for your help . I did a fresh install of everything including an updated version of virtual box. The VM finally ran and loaded cent OS in a pop window. Now am asked to input login and password for cent OS. Please what is login and password for the Os . Secondly now the virtual box is running the rpm, how can access the bahmni app on the browser. Thirdly , what is the possibility of accessing the bahmni web app folder , plan on doing some config tweaks, mind you am running it on a virtual box VM. Thanks
You can use putty (from Windows) to connect to the running VM over ssh, and then edit the files. Or use one of the File Editors on Windows which support remote file editing over SSH/SFTP to edit files inside the VM.
@Himabindu Akkinepalli @gsluthra ,Thanks for both your helps mean while when i power up the vm in virtual box and it loads centos and i login using vagrant vagrant. when i access the browser in windows it fails to load. below is the snapshot
that IP is a local Ip. You need a network IP to access. It should ideally have been 192.168.33.10. If not, then maybe you need to ensure your VM has networking enabled. If you used Vagrant to setup the VM, then the ip specified in Vagrantfile should work.
how to install extensions pack when using virtualbox. I get the following error message when I Itry to install it after down loading it from the Virtualbox web page. ----Failed to install the Extension Pack /home/wdavis/Downloads/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-6.1.30 (1).vbox-extpack.
I use VMware player (free for personal use) not Virtualbox.
But I think you can download the Extension Pack file from the VB site and install it from the VB application, pointing to this downloaded file.
It might have been changed since the last time I did it.
No version of Virtualbox has been released yet that is compatible with Apple Silicon processors (e.g. M1/M2/M3). All other choices with the exception of UTM are subscription virtual machines. Guests must be ARM architecture, not Intel or AMD64.
I believe that the OP would need to purchase Windows 11 for ARM from Microsoft for use with VMware Fusion (even if the personal-use version of VMware Fusion itself is free). There used to be a Windows Insider preview build of Windows 10 for ARM, but that was a beta-test OS, and now that Windows 11 is out, I'm not sure if you could get that from Microsoft any more.
Microsoft's Support article talks about "Windows 11 and Parallels Desktop", but I think the considerations would be pretty much the same for using Windows on an Apple Silicon Mac with the free version of VMware Fusion.
I installed it and tried to create a new virtual machine booting MacOS 10.6 off CD. It appeared to start up the virtual Mac, read the CD, put a few early MacOS startup message on the screen, a row of dots...... and then nothing more. No error messages, no progress, NADA.
Ok, I try a simpler case -- a pre-existing Virtual box machine from version 6, supposedly compatible. Same result, it starts to boot up, puts up some early MacOS messages, a row of dots.... then just stops in its tracks.
Having successfully used Kickstart installation for a few months on physical machines I am now attempting to use the same method/configuration applied to a VM created and managed in VirtualBox. I'm attempting to install OEL 7.1 (or 7.2) and it fails during the examination of packages on the repo server. Using the same DHCP/TFTP and cfg file, when the Kickstart environment is entered the cfg file is read successfully. But having finished with that file the screen clears and then nothing else appears to happen. I cannot get to the virtual terminals under these conditions. The client is pingable but otherwise unresponsive.
Now in the text based, interactive installer I can make fill in required data. However, typically on entering an installation source (in this case ) I see a burst of HTTP activity on the server and after some 4700 requests the client display the message "Pane is dead". I assume this is the same condition when running graphical install. Looking on the web I can see that the "Pane is dead" message is often caused by missing %end in the cfg file. I think I can rule that out because the error occurs without a cfg present and besides the cfg file works happily with physical install clients.
The last HTTP activity is the request of xxxxx-primary.sqlite.bz2, the request being satisfied and this being recorded in the access log. When text based, I can get to the shell but this reveals little. The last line of /tmp/packaging.log states
hh:mm:ss,mmm DEBUG yum.verbose.YumBase: Setting up Package Sacks.
Hanging during "Setting up Package Sacks" is apparently not uncommon but usually occurs because of being behind proxy, using https, or conflicting yum processes or stale yum data. All of these I think can be ruled out. The client is on same subnet as repo server, not behind proxy or firewall. The repo satisfies other Kickstart installs and ad-hoc updates.
Further tests showed that the "Pane is dead" error occurs even if the only action is to select text over VNC mode of operation. Under these conditions "Setting up Package Sacks" is still the last text in packaging.log.
