Dear Michael, Election 2012 is upon us. We’re in for another round of partisan politics and polarization that so often paralyzes our society. Are you ready for a change? We are! We need a strong organization to bring us back from the brink. With your support the JCPA has been a leader in promoting civility and civil discourse, both within the Jewish community and in our society at large. But the battle is far, far from over. It’s not rocket science, but we need your financial support to continue to serve the community. The JCPA has made a difference all across America. We’re promoting civil discourse, working for the security of Israel, protecting our students, and defending society’s most vulnerable. But, again, we can’t do it without you. Civility. Working with local community leadership, the JCPA has provided specialized tools and materials to effectively promote civil discourse, enable communities to discuss topics that were once taboo, and reach compromises on difficult issues. Thousands of community members from across the political and religious spectrum have signed our civility statement and committed themselves to open their hearts and minds to healthy, respectful dialogue.Israel. The JCPA is a partner of the Jewish Federations of North America in an intense campaign to fight efforts to delegitimize Israel. The Israel Action Network works in the communities nationally and internationally, and its impact is already being felt. When it comes to the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran, the JCPA has helped educate and galvanize Jews and Christians throughout America to understand and actively oppose the dangerous Iranian regime.Poverty. The JCPA is a national force in fighting poverty, co-sponsoring “Fighting Poverty with Faith” with Catholic Charities and the National Council of Churches. We are determined to help reduce poverty by 50% by 2020. Driven by the passion and fervor of our leadership, thirteen Members of Congress and countless faith and community leaders around the country joined us in taking the Food Stamp Challenge, living for one week on the average food stamp allotment -- $1.50 per meal. For more information, please click here for our coverage in the Washington Post. The JCPA continues to advocate for bipartisan Congressional support for programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as Food Stamps), that assist our nation’s most vulnerable in their most difficult times. We work hard; you know that! But we cannot do it alone. Without you, we will not be able to continue this work. Your gift will enable us to work to restore civility to our fractured society and to build bridges with like-minded allies to truly make our world safe, secure and reflective of our highest values. Please take a minute and make a contribution to the JCPA. We you’re your support for the vital work we do. Your gift of $250 or $500 – or of any amount – will ensure that we continue to make a difference for our community. Please make a secure online donation at www.jewishpublicaffairs.org/donate. Thank you for your help. Sincerely,
