When you click the link for a specific manual on the Print Shop page on the Raymarine website you will be directed to the relevant order page on Lulu.com. On that page, click "Add to basket". Then, when you get to the Shopping Basket page, you can use the Quantity field to change the number of manuals required. The postage costs will be re-calculated accordingly; for example, you will get a postage discount when ordering multiple manuals at the same time.

When you click on a link in the lists of available Print Shop titles on the Raymarine website, you will be directed to the product information page for the manual on Lulu.com. An image of the manual's front cover is displayed, and this includes a picture of the product that the manual relates to. The relevant product name is also included in the document's title.

The best way to determine whether the manual will contain the information you need is to look at the preview of the manual. To do this, use the Print Shop pages on the Raymarine website to find the title that best describes what you're looking for, then click the link to visit the product information page for the manual on Lulu.com. Under the photo of the manual front cover, click the "Preview" link. Then explore the table of contents list (usually on page 4) to review the range of information covered in the manual.

The ways in which consumers use documentation are changing. Many consumers want to read documents on their laptop, tablet, smartphone, or other electronic device. Due to these changing viewing habits, the demand for printed manuals is no longer as high as it once was.

However Raymarine appreciates that some customers do not have access to the latest technologies, or simply prefer to read a printed manual. For those customers, Raymarine offers a convenient on-demand printing service for a large selection of manuals. Although printing costs are very dependent on quantities of scale, Raymarine has sourced one of the most competitively priced on-demand printing services to provide one-off printed manuals for a fair price.

Just eight months after the Federal Aviation Administration announced a completed review of maintenance manuals for Beechcraft 1900s, the plane's manufacturer has issued a correction because of a backward illustration.

(File photo by Vincent DeWitt)This is the latest in a series of manual revisions that Raytheon Aircraft Co. has issued since two Beechcraft 1900Ds crashed in 2003, one in Charlotte, N.C., and one on Cape Cod, killing 23 people.

The rudder trim is on the tail of the airplane and acts almost like power steering. Using the bad illustration as guidance would reverse the gear, meaning a plane would turn left when the pilot intended a right turn.

After the two crashes, the FAA began to review maintenance procedures for the Beechcraft 1900, 1900C and 1900D aircraft, Duquette said. The National Transportation Safety Board later made the same recommendation.

''The safety of our aircraft is our utmost concern and we continuously review our manuals and procedures for improvement,'' he wrote in a prepared statement. ''Aircraft maintenance manuals are constantly changing based on input from operators in the field, product improvements and new FAA requirements.''

As of December, there were 255 Beechcraft 1900, 1900C and 1900D aircraft registered with the FAA. Colgan, a US Airways express carrier, locally flies trips between LaGuardia and Hyannis and Nantucket, carrying a maximum of 1,330 passengers weekly in and out of the area. Seasonal flights to Boston are also available.

Dean's wife, Yisel Dean, filed suit in January claiming wrongful death, negligence, breach of express and implied warranty, gross negligence and unfair or deceptive acts and practices. Knabe's girlfriend, Lisa Weiler, filed a similar suit both have been combined into one case.

The claim against Colgan was for gross negligence. It was denied because Dean asked for punitive damages, which are allowed in Texas where the pilot lived but not in Massachusetts where he worked and was entitled to workers' compensation, District Judge Patti B. Saris said.

''The opinion was thorough and conclusive and definitively decided that issue, however the case goes on because there are several defendants still in the case, including the manufacturer of the aircraft and the providers of the maintenance manuals with erroneous maintenance instructions,'' said attorney Mary Schiavo who represents Dean and Weiler. ''We will very vigorously press on.''

In another lawsuit, Colgan was not so fortunate. The airline, which flew 667,960 passengers last year, sued Raytheon for damages it incurred for the loss of its airplane and associated costs. In the suit, Colgan attorneys cited the faulty manuals as reasons for the litigation. Raytheon countered that Colgan's maintenance crews and pilots were to blame.

The current operating manual(s) and training materials for the STARS (Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System) consoles provided to air traffic controllers at positions in TRACON and tower facilities throughout the NAS. I am particularly interested in operating manuals for the software portions of the STARS consoles, including any reference handbooks that would be used by air traffic controllers in the normal course of operation at TRACON and tower facilities. I do not need documentation regarding hardware or hardware servicing.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

More information is needed before your FOIA request can be assigned to the appropriate FAA office. Please identify the Air Traffic facility name/location and a date or date range for the records sought.

This email acknowledges receipt of your FOIA request concerning the current operating manual and training materials for the STARS consoles provided to air traffic controllers at positions in TRACON and tower facilities.

Thanks Judy! It looks like this got triaged correctly -- there is no one specific Air Traffic facility that relates to this request, as the STARS system is used throughout the NAS. Nevertheless, please let me know if you need any other info.

The records you seek were created by Raytheon. Given their equities in these records, we are required to contact Raytheon, in accordance with 49 CFR 7.29, to see if they had any objections in their release. We contacted Raytheon last week and while the FAA is responsible for making the disclosure determination on these records we will not do so until after Raytheon replies to our inquiry. Raytheon was asked to respond to us by November 26. We estimate that it will take approximately two weeks after that to complete the processing of your request. So, would you be agreeable to a due date extension of December 10? Please accept our apologies for the delay.
