I currently have a web application that uses the .NET 3.5 framework and I am wondering if it will be compatible with TLS 1.2. No where in our code are we dictating TLS version. This is a legacy application and recompiling is not on the table right now. I am not finding much info on whether you can or cannot, but I was under the impression that compatibility is more dependent on the OS version. It looks like the minimum is 2008 R2. The goal is to get paypal to communicate properly come July 1st.

Culled from: -us/help/3154518/support-for-tls-system-default-versions-included-in-the-.net-framework Note: by defining the const in my code I could ignore everything else in the article including the registry edits and cs files.

For these past few months I have been trying to install The Sims 3 on Origin. I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall but not luck. Problem is: When clicking on The Sims 3 I get a Microsoft box 'Windows Features requirement of net framework 3.5.' I have seen online forums people posting on EA help.com that people didn't need to install the 3.5 net framework. Any advice would be great as I am preparing for the move to the EA APP.

@Naweeya Sims 3 definitely requires .NET Framework 3.5 whether you're playing through Origin or the EA App (or disc or Steam). Normally, Windows would install it as the game calls for it without the user needing to do anything except agree to it. It sounds like you might be getting this prompt, and if so, just accept it.

Or you can install manually. Hit Windows key-R and enter "appwiz.cpl" without quotes, then click "Turn Windows features on or off." .NET 3.5 should be at the top of the list. If the box next to it is empty, click it to install, and when it's finished, restart your computer. If the box is filled, that means it's already installed. Click the box to uninstall, restart your computer, then install is as above and restart again.

I am facing a similar issue with Windows 11 and have followed your steps by running the appwiz.cpl, clicked the box for 3.5 but receive an error message when windows attempts to download the relevant files. The error code is 0x80240023. Is this because internet explorer is retired? I am unable to download or activate Framework 3.5 and downloaded newer versions but without luck getting the sims 3 to run. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi i'm literally having the same problem as the guy above and ive tried most of ur solutions but it still doesn't work. its just when i try the repair install, the button in the 3rd step doesnt appear. what to do, please?

yeah none of the options above worked. so i bought the sims 3 for the first time and whenever i try to launch it, a pop up appears saying i have to download net framework 3.5, so when i try to download it i get an error message.

@Mikey009556 I do think you need to run a repair install, but your C drive doesn't have enough space to download a Windows 11 ISO. Please clear another 20 GB or so, in whatever way works for you. Your D drive has plenty of free space, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

If option two for the repair install still doesn't work, please let me know exactly how it doesn't work: what step you're on, any error message you get, etc. I've seen this exact .NET error before, and the repair install was the only fix short of reinstalling Windows, which I'm sure you don't want to do.

@Mikey009556 Move important stuff to D, temporarily. You can't move applications there by dragging and dropping, but for example you can move the contents of Photos or Documents. If C is full of applications, uninstall a few for now; you can reinstall them later.

I'm trying to install .NET 3.5 support on my Windows 10 machine for use with NI Visa. We built our software around Visa 5.1.2, but I'm not sure if we would need to globally update our libraries or if there's a way to force the NI installer to detect .NET 3.5 on the machine. The framework is installed on the Windows 10 machine, but for some reason the NI installer won't detect it.

Unfortunately there is not way to force the NI installer to detect .NET3.5. In fact, it is not possible to include .NET3.5 in NI installer. You can instead create a bash file to install .NET3.5 or install .NET bundle separately.

The workaround I discovered is to install NI VISA without support for any .NET frameworks and manually force the installation of .NET support. Once the install completes, open the folder where VISA was extracted and navigate to: NI-VISA > 5.1.2 > Products > NI-VISA

Once there, open the MStudioVisa.2008.msi installer and enable the installation of support for .NET languages. If everything installed correctly, the libraries should be located in the correct location for VS 2008 to find!

I am using Ubuntu 14.04. I want to use Multicharts,a windows application using wine. Multicharts requires .net framework 3.5. Is it possible to install. I have 64 bit OS.I found code below on different question.

The first step was to move to VS 2017 and replace the NLayer csproj file with one that would build as a .NET Standard package. The new csproj file format is delightfully simple, as it no longer requires us to specify each source file individually. I went for .NET Standard 1.3 and told it to auto-create NuGet packages for me, another nice capability of VS 2017:

I consulted the compatibility matrix which made it clear that I needed to be on at least .NET 4.6 to be able to reference a .NET Standard 1.3 project. So I changed NLayer.NAudioSupport to target .NET 4.6 and sure enough, everything compiled and worked.

However, it seemed a shame that now I was forcing a major .NET version upgrade on all users of NLayer.NAudioSupport. NAudio is used a lot by companies who lag long way behind the latest versions of .NET. So is there any way to keep support for .NET 3.5 for those who want it, in addition to supporting .NET Standard 1.3?

Well, we can multi-target .NET frameworks. This is very easily done in the new csproj syntax. Instead of a TargetFramework node, we use a TargetFrameworks node, with a semi-colon separated list of frameworks. So I just added net35.

I think XP originally came with .net 1.1 and SP3 probably updates this version with all the latest 1.1 hotfixes, I suppose to 1.1 SP1 or whatever the latest SP version is. The Wikipedia section on the .net framework is probably worth reading.

... and it's true, it can not be integrated in xp as if slipstreamed, but it has to be installed silently as nlite plugin at T13 phase of windows installation. You can allso use this plugin to install .net 3.5 with updates on to xp after windows was installed, just run exe.

"3ds Max has detected that the required .NET framework version is not properly installled"

I am a student at NITH in Norway and am using the student version. I depend on having 3ds Max available on my Lapptop when im not at school and need to work.
A fix to this problem would be much appreciated.

The 3ds Max installer architecture is running a .NET 3.5 installer and returning any messaging that the .NET installer is returning. Try installing .NET 3.5 directly from Microsoft or from the DVD Download (\support\dotnetfx\dotnetfx35.exe). If the .Net 3.5 install is successful try the 3ds Max installer again. If the .NET 3.5 install fails you will need to troubleshoot and resolve the problems with .NET.

It means that something is wrong with .NET or your operating system. The .NET installer is returning information that something is wrong. You will need to work out the .NET or operating system problem first. You may need to get your IT staff, a computer vendors support technician, or an IT service company involved to fix this.

Seems tome that with all the issues you have there are problems on YOUR end not ours. Not everybody have a screaming Geek computer to make this work. I am sad to say that after more than 15 hours and various installs and uninstalls this program does not work or install properly on three different computers.

I get the same error message here when launching 3ds Max 2012 on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. The system has been installed cleanly about three weeks ago, and, what's really strange, I did not change anything before the error message started to appear. The last update affecting the .NET framework was about two weeks ago via Windows Update and has installed .NET version 4. After that, 3ds Max ran fine for about two weeks, and since yesterday, it can't be launched anymore.

Currently, I am in a job hurry, so I have not had the time yet to try all the uninstalling, re-installing and cleanup-suggestions above. I'm using 3ds Max now on an old Win XP backup partition to finish my jobs. I will try all that stuff when there is a bit more time, but it's really strange that such things happen on a (nearly) freshly-installed Windows 7 machine.
