Iinstalled a bulldog remote start on my friends 2004 pontiac bonneville and once all the wiring connections were made, we tested it out by inserting the key in the ignition and then remote started it. It worked just fine. No problems. So then I proceeded to go to the 555G bypass module installation. Right off the bat i was a little confused. According to directed's wiring diagram for the 555g, the three PK3 wires i needed would be the imobilizer igintion feed (pink or white), data wire (purple) and the fuel enable wire (blue). Well when i looked at the wires coming off the ignition switch for the PK3 there was a white one, a black one, and a yellow one. No purple or blue.

According to the 555g's instructions( ), it informed me that this 04 bonnevile would have a data PK3 system rather than the Fuel Enable system. So I'm missing the purple wire that i need. Since it did say the ignition feed wire would be white or pink, i went a head and cut the white PK3 wire in two and soldered the pink wire of the 555g to the ECM side of the PK3 white wire, and soldered the pink with black stripe wire of the 555g to the key cylinder side of the PK3 white wire. Now since i didn't have a purple wire (like the 555g said i should have) I took a guess and solderd to the black wire of the PK3 on the bonneville. Went through programming procedures. Didn't seem to program right. Won't remote start without key in ignititon. So i tried the yellow wire of the PK3 system. Same result. So i pulled the purple data wire of the 555g off of all wires and tried remote starting with the key in the cylinder. Now that won't even work. So i tried starting with the key itself. NOW THAT DOESN'T WORK! Won't even turn over. I held the two ends of the white wire together that i cut from the PK3 system and it started using the key, but now the security light, the service engine light, and the air bag light are all staying on. AND the fuel gage no longer works. The car had half a tank of gas in it and now it says it has none.

Does anyone know what the correct wires colors are for the PK3 system in an 04 bonneville? And why the fuel gage and all those lights are on now when the vehicle is started with a key? If the white wire i cut into two is actually the fuel enable wire, could that cause the fuel gage to malfunction? Anyone with any knowledge or advice pertaining to this subject, I would be IMENSELY APPRECIATIVE if you could help me.

any time i used a 555G years ago the wires were always there and correct.....this module is old and discontinued which is probably why it doesn't show up on a Bypasskit search... if i remember correctly they used to dump their programming and need re-programming fairly often.....

I called directed electronics and asked them about the 555G and to which wires it should apply on the 04 bonneville. The technician i talked to informed me that the 555G would not work on the 04 bonneville. So design tech international's website led me astray. I plan to buy the GMBP module now and try it out.

As for all of the all the lights in the dash panel that were coming on, much to my relief they all disappeared as soon as the radio was reconnected. I would have never thought that so many things were controlled through the radio. Especially the fuel gage. Remote start is working so long as he leaves a spare key in the ignition. Gotta wait for the GMBP to come in now so i can finish the install. From all the wiring diagrams i've seen of it, it looks like a pretty easy install.
