Hi Jon, All!

Well I got my LiNK80 SBC1 up and running today, and so far everything looks great!

The one problem I am having is that I am not seeing any signaling on the RTS line (pin 2) of SIO/B.
This causes a paste of a program (into BASIC) not to go well, and am sure that it will also cause XMODEM not to work correctly.  I am using PuTTY, but am able to use TerraTerm to work around the issue by imposing the per character/per line delay available in that program.  I am using the same adapter with the same settings that I use to communicate with my RC2014.  Same thing on a secondary adapter.
I put a scope on it, and sure enough, the RTS line stays flat LOW.  When looking at the same line on the RC2014, it will jump HIGH when it needs to pause the flow.  I have all the jumpers set to their default positions, and have tried changing the CTS jumpers to no effect.
I will try loading the SCM on the RC2014 and see if I can reproduce it there.  Ideas?

I just put the SCM ROM into the RC2014 and see the same issue.

On the RC2014 I am running Version 1.0.0 configuration R3
On the LiNC80  I am running Version 1.0.0 configuration L1

So I can say that it must be something with Small Computer Monitor, but don't know how to proceed.  Please do let me know if there is anything I can test further.  Cheers!

Hi Randal

SCM does not currently use interrupts and so does not have a serial buffer and flow control. Something for a future version.

BASIC, as supplied by Spencer for the RC2014, uses some of Grant Searle's code tor interrupt driven serial with buffering and flow control, which is why it behaves differently.

Well that would explain it!  Thanks for your quick reply!

I'm wondering if there is an image for a CF card that is prepared so that it boots from the "CPM" command from SCM?

Also, further testing indicates that I am not able to use the IDE/CF Card adapter powered from the LiNC80.  I've set the jumper on the SBC1 and on the Adapter, and tested the pin at *almost* 5V, I wonder if that's the problem?  I can get the IDE activity light to flash once when the Adapter is powered externally and I issue the "CPM" command, but evidently I do not have the correct image to boot to?

Thanks again for any assistance while I undergo these initial trials!  Cheers!

Please disregard question regarding image.  I knew I had seen one, and had found it in Jon's excellent documentation.

The power issue still is puzzling me however....

Not sure what your power problem is as I'm running my CF adapter powered from the LiNC80

Well I am 2 for 2 stupid questions today I guess.  Looked at the StarTech adapter I am using and it is missing pin 20.  That would explain a lot!

It's a corollary to my Rule #1 of Troubleshooting:  It works better when it is plugged in!

I suppose I could try and solder a pin in there if I really wanted to.  Or look for a different adapter (now that I have two of these.  D'oh!)  Or just power it as I am now.
