Dear John

Firstly, thank you for being an Active and Responsible Citizen who participates in shaping the future of our country. By participating, you hold the power.

Secondly, we've decided to finally stop flooding you with emails by sticking to a regular beginning of the week update email which will contain links to new participation projects on important issues. You don't need to participate in them all, however, we do encourage you to comment on those which affect you or your community.

So, this week we have a number of important issues, namely Eskom tariff hikes, amendments to the Employment Equity Bill and a number of others listed below. Please click on this link and have your say

Did you know most corruption happens because of a prior lack of public participation? Prevention is better than cure. Be active, even if its from your armchair - it does make a difference.

Calls for comment;
1 - Eskom tariff increases - "We're entitled to a 90% increase". Closes 30 November
2 - Employment Equity Bill - The Bill aims to tighten race targets in the workplace, speed up transformation and empower the labour minister to establish numerical race targets for particular sectors. Closes 21 November.
3 - Amendments to the Companies Act - The reasons for these amendments are listed by the DTI to keep up with current trends and also to close some loopholes in the in the Companies Act. Closes 21 November.
4 - Noseweek's campaign to take action against Cellphone Service Providers - Mobile phone network providers are robbing us blind and no-one seems to care – except for Noseweek. The providers are illegally charging customers for services they’ve never signed up for through shady third party content providers (WASPs), raking in possibly billions of Rands. Closes 30 November.

John, please take action and have your say now.
If you have already participated, well done and thank you!

Thank you for participating in your democracy.
The team at Dear South Africa.

We ask you to encourage everyone you know to participate in this essential process.
