The rest of the waste possibly belongs to Mrs Bartlett LR of 100 Virginia Ave, Parkmore who banks at Nedbank Benmore Gardens. Tried to locate her through the internet and phone book. Unlisted. She may run a playschool or have young children. Waste includes playschool stuff and renovating rubble. Please may she be reported to JMPD and issued with a warning and please can this waste be removed before other people dump there. Opposite Contract Truck hire on 3^rd road. Many thanks.

Putrid fish heads, bones and veg scraps from Wombles restaurant Parktown North were found dumped in Linbro Park on the Third Road verge.

Landfill birds, nature’s scavengers including pied crows, sacred ibis and Indian mynah birds are feasting. Soon the rats will arrive too.

How did this happen? To find out I googled Wombles and could not believe how flash it looks on the website. Called and asked for the manager. Was given Graham on the line. Had he perhaps contracted an ‘independent waste contractor’ due to to the Pikitup strike? I enquired.

He said he had. Of course he expressed horror and outrage when I told him where his contractor has tossed the garbage. He said he will get the errant chap to pick up the mess. I certainly hope he does. We will give him a few days’ grace because the stench is putrid. I am afraid that I will not be able to visit Wombles without that horrible stench coming back to me.

I hope Graham does not turn out to be someone like the MD of Executive Panel Beaters who also expressed outrage at the illegal dumping his ‘contractor’ had wreaked on Linbro. Of course, he would get the waste removal man to pick it up, he assured.

Three months later he has done sweet zip. We have referred the case to Pikitup and asked them to get the Johannesburg Metro Police Department to lay charges.

Please do the right thing Graham!
