Dear Prof Abegaz,

I don’t know if you remember me from a meeting at the Royal Society of Chemistry I attended sometime ago. I did mention at the time our activities in regard to capacity strengthening in sub-Saharan Africa. It is in this context I need to ask for your assistance if I may. You might already have heard from Prof Ndiaye that the Royal Society has secured some substantial funding for a new programme in three areas of research:

1.    Water & Sanitation

2.    Renewable Energy

3.    Soil-related research

One of the major challenges at this stage is to disseminate the information widely amongst scientists and relevant research institutions across sub-Saharan Africa. To this end, we have produced a flyer plus a shorter version in French. Could I ask you to circulate the two documents amongst your contacts in order to disseminate the information about this funding opportunity? I would be very grateful indeed if you could help us in this matter.

Best wishes

Hans Hagen

PS Please note that I shall be away from my desk from tomorrow, back in the office on 17th September
