Dont worry - it's quick and painless! Just click below, and once you're logged in we'll bring you right back here and post your question. We'll remember what you've already typed in so you won't have to do it again.

The application works correctly and it seems that it is playing songs, but no sound comes out. After 10 seconds, it skips to the next song, it looks like it's playing songs, but no sound comes out again. I already uninstalled and installed the application, I made all possible updates. I removed and added the TV to my account and everything is still the same!! what can I do to get back to listening to music directly on tv with the Spotify app?

To confirm this was not a fluke, at least for my case, I tried playing from the Spotify app again before power cycling both the TV and router, and I was still having the issue. Only after unplugging the TV, restarting the router, and plugging the TV back in did the issue resolve.

@Paulipro this indeed is odd. Could you please try to reinstall the Spotify app on the affected device to see if you'll still experience this? Reinstalling the application will get you the latest app version with all necessary updates and fixes and will remove any corrupted files from previous installations that could be interfering with the app's performance.

If that doesn't do the trick, you might be experiencing this issue which our tech team is currently investigating. As soon as we have any news we'll keep everyone posted there, so feel free to Subscribe to the thread from the three dots menu to stay tuned.

I've tried everything mentioned above, but it still won't work. I've gone through this thread before and it helped fix the issue, but now it's happened again and nothing is working. I've uninstalled the app, reset the router and unplugged everything other devices on the network are working fine.

In case the above doesn't fix it, we'd recommend disabling any antivirus or ad-blocking software temporarily to see if that helps. If it does, make sure to set Spotify as an exception here as well.

Before it happened after the sleep stage. I just opened the Spotify app, pressed Play button and no sound was coming from the app, the time bar was moving tho. However, the last time I tried it happened also right after restart. Not sure whether it stopped working while using the computer. I think it has, but I truly am not sure.

On another note, if it's just happening on the desktop app, it'd be a good idea to try a clean install. If that doesn't make a difference, editing your Hosts file might help. Just follow the steps here.

I purchased a new 2019 Chevy Colorado over the weekend and when I tried to connect my phone to stream Spotify the sound quality was terrible, hollow and flat sounding. I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. Here is what I tried so far:

I have tested between SiriusXM and Spotify. Spotify is MUCH quieter. I keep the volume at 15ish for the radio but need to double it for Spotify. My Google Play app does not have this problem. I'm disappointed because I pay for Premium but the sound quality is muffled and quiet.

@GalaxyWalker Could you share with us if you also experience bad sounds quality? We'll look into this further.

@TheOriginalZee It's a good idea to try the steps mentioned in the original post. In case the issue persists, could you share with us the device + OS version? We'll investigate this further.

I recently have had to switch laptops, and had to redownload zoom onto this new laptop. Ever since zoom was downloaded, every time I would go into a meeting any other sound playing becomes muffled, this applies for Youtube videos and Spotify. It is irritating as I have gotten used to playing music while being in zoom meetings and this makes listening to music while IN a zoom meeting impossible. It is important to note that this only happens when I connect audio to my computer, and doesn't happen if my microphone isn't connected to the zoom meeting.

Any help or solutions would be appreciated.

For initial troubleshooting, can you please try refreshing the Zoom application by uninstalling, rebooting your device (very important), then reinstalling the Zoom app? This will help eliminate any momentary glitches/errors within the app and will also ensure that you are on the latest version for the best performance.

After this, please ensure as well that the Original Sound/Music option is turned on for your Zoom application by following these steps:

1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.

2. Click your profile picture, then click Settings.

3. Click the Audio tab

4. Under the Audio Profile section, select Original sound for musicians.

5. Select the audio options you wish to use:

- High-fidelity music mode: This disables echo cancellation & post-processing, while raising audio codec quality to 48Khz, 96Kbps mono/192kbps stereo. A professional audio interface, microphone, and headphones are required.

- Echo cancellation: Prevents the creation of echoes between the mic and speakers. Disable is only recommended when using headphones to isolate audio or when playing instruments.

- Stereo audio: Encodes mic audio in stereo. Requires a stereo-capable microphone or audio interface.

Then, please ensure as well that you turn it on during the actual meeting:

1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.

2. Start or join a meeting.

3. Connect to meeting audio with the Computer Audio option.

4. In the top-left corner of the meeting window, the current status of the Original Sound for Musicians feature is indicated.

5. Click the Original Sound for Musicians button to toggle to ON.

I followed these instructions and there is no fix. Trying to share YouTube videos does not work in Win 11. Unfortunately downgrading to Win 10 on a new laptop is a major problem in itself. Why won't Zoom fix this issue?

Having almost exact same issue as Scenario 2 above. When I share screen and share computer audio and play a Youtube video, the singer's *voice* can be heard, but the music/instrumentals of the video *cannot* be heard at all or is very choppy. I'm using a brand new very powerful laptop (octacore, 16gb ram, etc) with Windows 11. Did not seem to have the problem with older low-end 11-year-old laptop using Windows 10

Followed all of the steps and stopped any audio enhancements, even for devices not used for Zoom. Same result, the sound on videos from YouTube shared on Zoom is muffled/garbled. Did find that if I disconnect from computer audio in Zoom prior to sharing (or while sharing) the YouTube video, the sound plays fine on both sides (my computer and the other people connected via Zoom). But I cannot talk during the videos and it is cumbersome to keep disconnecting and connecting the computer audio. This worked a short time ago on our Win10 desktop. Now we have a Win11 laptop and the Zoom app is not working the way it did. Please help.

Just wanted to share that we recognized this is an issue with PC devices. Mac's do not have the audio issue. If Zoom can look into this, it would be greatly appreciated. We offer a lot of workshops with shared audio and have the tech support person with a Mac share when possible. Since all the PCs tend to have the muffling issue when the voice audio competes with the music audio.

What is happening is noise cancellation so that if you were actually in a real call it would be picking up background clutter, which is what it considers everything other than the individuals talking. Most windows users probably using something along the lines of realtek audio.

It was the Meetings Window that opened today in the zoom app.

I entered the meeting link from there and I did not see any toggle for the Original Sound for Musicians to toggle on and frankly I forgot about that.

Have 2 dud wasted recordings with no musical vocal toning audible only speech.

When I went back into the Zoom App, clicked "Home " from the tool bar, and entered a meeting to check .....the toggle bar for Original Audio for Musicians was there.

Maybe that is the problem......?!?

Seem counter intuitive of Zoom to require the Original Audio for Musicians to be turned on each meeting when it is already set in the Preferences. Zoom requires a lot of work from the users to check many features with each meeting. See if this helps any of you and report back.

Thank you... I am pleased to say that it is all fixed... de-installed zoom, restarted computer, re-installed zoom and adjusted sound settings. The really important setting was original sound for musicians which helped make the music quality really clear. We had a great lesson with perfect sound this week. I'm very relieved.

What worked to fix it was to turn off audio enhancements. I use Windows 11. This meant going to System > Sound > Properties (for my device) > Audio Enhancement (select "Off" rather than default device settings).

This is a similar problem to this post but I was unable to add to the comments since I am new to StackExchange. I tried the answer posted by Vishesh but it didn't solve the issue for me; when I run start-pulseaudio-x11 command it still says "Failure: Module initialization failed". However, the sound works for all my other applications (VLC, Rhythmbox, web-based audio such as YouTube and SoundCloud). I have not tried the solution posted by Vikas as I wasn't sure whether it would impact my applications that do have audio output.
